Nicki Minaj has made her way into the headlines after several netizens accused her of throwing shade at Ice Spice. Nicki Minaj uploaded a picture of herself from 17 years ago, captioning it:

“17 years ago. Crimped my own hair. Did my own makeup and 2 padded bras to make my b*obs look bigger. Barbz!!!!”

Like thousands of others, Ice Spice also commented on Nicki Minaj’s picture by posting a lovestruck emoji. However, what surprised netizens was that Minaj liked everyone else’s comment but not Ice Spice’s. As fans noticed this, they started talking about how the Barbie World singer is possibly throwing shade at Isis Naija, aka Ice Spice.

One social media user commented on @TheRapMedia’s post on X about the same and stated:

“Lmaoo I would be embarrassed.”

On the other hand, many other netizens also suggested that there could be a tiff between the two.

“She’s doing ice spice the same way she did doja wait for like a month or two then she’s gonna unfollow,” stated one social media user.

“She’s been trying to get Nicki’s attention since January,” commented another netizen.

“I’d block her if I was Nicki she’s so desperate nobody is coming to save her flop album she wants the barbz support so bad,” exclaimed another.

“I been said she don’t fw her like that,” wrote another user on the post.

“Ice Spice tryna troll Nicki now,” read one comment.

On the other hand, several other netizens also discussed the fact that other artists, such as Sexxy Red, Kim Petras, Akbar V, and many others, also commented on Minaj’s picture, and the rapper liked everyone’s comments.

As Ice Spice commented on Nicki Minaj’s post but received no likes or comments from the Anaconda singer, social media users are hinting towards a possible rift between the two.

However, the same was clarified a few months back by Ice Spice, who opened up to Rolling Stone on July 25, 2024, by stating:

“We don’t have the closest relationship, you know? But we’re definitely good. We’re mutuals. We had smash records together. I love us together, I think the world does too.”

Furthermore, during her conversation with the publication, the artist also spoke up about the text messages controversy, where several screenshots of hers talking about Nicki Minaj were leaked. Ice Spice stated:

“I don’t really think she cares about s**t like that coming from a random girl. But what I said in those texts was just in a moment of frustration around contract negotiations. I could have chose different words. But at the end of the day, regardless of how I felt in that moment, Nicki is still somebody I respect as an artist, and I’m always going to admire everything she’s done for me and the culture.”

The fiasco between Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice took place a year ago, when Ice Spice allegedly called Minaj “ungrateful and delusional” while the two were working together on the Barbie soundtrack.

At the time of this writing, neither Nicki Minaj nor Ice Spice have commented on the situation. The two singers are still following each other on Instagram.
