Nicki Minaj left fans furious after she reportedly turned up an hour and a half late to her gig at Malahide Castle in Dublin on Saturday night, with many concertgoers leaving the venue
Nicki Minaj’s fans were absolutely livid after the star reportedly rocked up a whopping hour and a half late to her show at Malahide Castle.
The ‘Super Bass’ singer left her audience out in the cold and rain, with a good few heading for the exits of the Dublin venue on Saturday before she even took to the stage.
The ‘Anaconda’ chart-topper is said to have finally made her appearance close to 10pm, a solid hour and a half behind schedule.
One gutted fan vented: “Two-hour journey from Belfast to Dublin Nicki Minaj is an hour and 25 minutes late so far. everyone is soaked and freezing. Home time for me… very disappointed.”
Another ticked-off gig-goer remarked: “Nicki Minaj any chance you could make an appearance on stage in Dublin? 45 minutes left till closing? ! What a joke.”, reports the Irish Mirror.
When Minaj did eventually grace the stage, she reportedly stormed off just five minutes later because her DJ queued up the wrong tunes.
A fan recounted: “Nicki Minaj hours late to her own show in Dublin then after five minutes storms off stage because her own DJ plays the wrong setlist. Thousands of people let down once again by the artist herself, shameful and disgraceful.”
Some fans directed their frustration at the concert promoter MCD, demanding they “never to represent” Minaj in the future.
Lee blasted: “MDC Productions I sincerely hope you will never represent Nicki Minaj again. She should be banned from Dublin. Who will be compensating all the fans she has let down this evening? “.
Katie expressed her annoyance on X, previously known as Twitter : “Except it’s nearly 10pm and she’s still not on stage. Rude to everyone in Dublin who showed up to see her.”
One disgruntled fan expressed their frustration, saying: “I hope people at Nicki Minaj tonight at Dublin will be getting a refund @nickiminaj should be ashamed of herself coming on just before 10pm, an hour and a half late, sing twice and goes to change with 15 minutes left before curfew. No respect for fans.”
Despite the backlash from fans who were left annoyed, Nicki Minaj didn’t address the issue directly but instead shared a clip of her making her entrance on stage Saturday night.
She described the event in her post: “This is not a festival. This was #GagCityDublin Ireland a couple of hours ago. The crown is with them from this day forth. I’ll post the rest tomorrow.”
The comment section under her post was flooded with hundreds of remarks, including one that read: “Worst gig ever, arrived on stage at 9:50, kept fans waiting in the lashings of rain, proceeded to have loads of lengthy costume changes, lots of fans disappointed.”
Another fan commented: “So many little kids went to this as their first concert and were so disappointed, do better,” and someone else chimed in: “@nickiminaj as much as I love you, you know last night was an absolute disaster! ! Left us waiting until 2200 then you finished at 2252! ! “.
They continued to express their discontent: “You left the stage multiple times for costume changes when you didn’t really have time, curfew was 2230! ! Do better next time, we were disappointed.”
MCD’s representative has been approached for a statement.
This isn’t the first time that the singer’s fans have been left fuming. Back in 2019, Minaj was scheduled to perform at the 3Arena, but the gig was called off just hours before she was due on stage.
The cancellation was due to equipment trucks being unable to reach Dublin because of poor weather conditions over the Irish Sea.
Fast forward to May this year, and fans were once again left seething when the American rapper’s performance at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena was cancelled at the eleventh hour following her detention at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
Minaj found herself in hot water after being arrested on suspicion of exporting soft drugs. She was subsequently fined 350 euros (£300; $380) and allowed to continue her journey, according to Dutch authorities.
