Emily in Paris season 4 is back with Part 2, which promises to fundamentally change the series. The Netflix romantic comedy has made a name for itself with breezy storytelling, quirky characters, and a gorgeous Parisian backdrop. Emily in Paris Season 4 – Part 2 brings all of that back, presenting twists and turns for established relationships, and leaving room to explore new locations and characters that offer exciting and refreshing dynamics.
After Emily in Paris season 4 – part 1 mostly dealt with the fallout from Camille’s reveals in the season 3 finale, part 2 is all about showing how these characters can move forward. Part 1 of Emily in Paris season 4 ended with the major reveal that Camille was not actually pregnant, but she chose not to tell Gabriel at the time. As predicted, that storyline has a major impact, with Gabriel and Emily’s romance very much a key aspect of the new episodes.
Emily In Paris Season 4 – Part 2 Adds New Key Characters
Emily Cooper’s life completely changes thanks to these new arrivals
Part 2 is all about ushering in a new era for the romance series, and it does so greatly. A key part of those plans is the arrival of new characters who shake up things. Genevieve, played by Thalia Besson, is the show’s way of making Lily Collins’ Emily Cooper examine herself. Like Emily before her, Genevieve comes from the United States to France to get her dream job, only the character has already decided to stay when she arrives, unlike Emily’s case.
Genevieve offers interesting parallels to Emily, and Emily in Paris makes the most of those situations in Part 2. Due to their similarities, Emily and Genevieve initially bond. However, that resemblance is also a problem as the season goes on. The two characters share patterns in their personal and professional lives and, in the best soap opera-like storytelling the rom-com loves to employ, they come crashing down as Part 2’s episodes move along. Genevieve also has a major connection to other characters in the series, as she is Laurent’s daughter from another relationship, which affects Sylvie.
Emily in Paris also introduces Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschini). The character has a huge impact on the show and Emily’s life, with the romantic interest offering fresh experiences that help shake up Emily’s love life, which had already started to feel a bit formulaic. Marcello is quite different from Gabriel and Alfie, Emily’s most popular suitors, and offers her an opportunity to reassess her life’s choices, romantic preferences, and discover what speaks most to her heart. Franceschini makes Marcello a charming and earnest character who should prove himself a fan-favorite.
Emily In Paris, Or Emily In Rome?
Season 4 brings along a change in scenery
Emily’s life in Paris, with the American slowly starting to feel at home in the City of Love, is a huge part of what the show is all about. While Paris is still very much a player in its own right in the series, Part 2 brings along a whole new setting. Emily enjoys her own Roman Holiday. The opportunity to explore Italy’s beautiful cities, its delicious food, and its warm people adds a new flavor that makes Emily in Paris feel fresh again after four seasons.
With the arrival of Marcello and other story developments, Rome should be a key part of the series moving forward. Emily in Paris has the potential to explore quite a few different countries in Europe over the years, keeping things exciting and offering opportunities for its characters. Italy could be the first to get a deeper exploration in the show, with France still retaining its crucial role.
Emily in Paris Season 4 – Part 2 feels like a changing point. Old stories come to an end, while new beginnings set the course for the show’s future. After four seasons, the Netflix series knows exactly what it is meant to be and thrives on it. Collins’ Emily remains a bubbly and charming character, and her breezy storylines and dramatic moments continue to be entertaining. Emily in Paris offers the kind of fun adventures we can get lost in, and Part 2’s ending makes the yet-to-be-announced season 5 a necessity.
All 5 episodes of Emily in Paris Season 4 – Part 2 are now streaming on Netflix.
