The two women have been embroiled in legal fights for years.
It seems the legal battle between Cardi B and YouTuber Tasha K continues to ping pong back and forth—but this latest update just might expedite its finish.
As previously reported by The Root in Jan. 2022, Tasha — real name Latasha Kebe — was ordered to pay Cardi $4.25 million as a result of losing the defamation suit lobbed against her by the “Bodak Yellow” rapper. In the years since, the popular social media personality has filed two appeals (unsuccessfully), declared bankruptcy and argued that she’s unable to pay to Cardi all that money because she simply doesn’t have it.
However, back in June 2023, when the two women got into an online spat thanks to Tasha’s negative comments about late rapper and beloved Migos member Takeoff (play cousin to Cardi’s husband and former Migos member Offset), Cardi warned Tasha that she’d pay for her words and alluded to the fact that her lawyers knew she had some hidden money stashed somewhere in Africa.
Fast forward to Friday, Dec. 12, and the “Up” rapper has filed new documents in Florida’s Bankruptcy Court that allege, per TMZ, that Tasha “transferred assets and income out of her name, and into her husband’s name and/or his business.” The documents also allege that Tasha has money in offshore accounts in Cook Islands, Nevis and the country of Georgia.
Further evidence allegedly supporting the claim that the social media star has hidden money include recent luxury apartment upgrade, designer handbags, jewelry and clothes that she’s allegedly been flaunting on social media. Cardi has also asked the courts to subsequently dismiss Tasha’s bankruptcy case and block her from refiling for two years so that she can attempt to get the millions she’s legally owed.
Tasha has yet to respond to the new court filings, but if things continue to go down this road—she may have to be dealing with Cardi for much longer than she wants to.
