Cardi B Responds To Fan-Made Sophomore Album Cover Poking Fun At Delays

Cardi B‘s fans are growing anxious for her long-awaited sophomore album, passing the time by making fake cover art that pokes fun at the wait.

In a post to X this week, a member of Bardi Gang shared a Photoshopped cover that featured a picture of Cardi as an old woman with the title Defamation of Character.

“POV: it’s 2054 and Cardi B has finally released her sophomore album…” they captioned it.

Enjoying the teasing, the Bronx superstar retweeted the post and laughed – but she didn’t give any further update on when to expect it.

Cardi B released her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, in April 2018 – making it over six and a half years since she’s released a full body of work.

Since last year, Bardi has promised her sophomore effort will drop in 2024, and despite giving birth to her third child and going through a divorce, she has been consistently posting from the studio in recent months.

Though she hasn’t released many details, there were recently some hints as to what it may be named – which is where the fan pulled the album title from for their fake cover art.

In July, TMZ spotted Cardi’s company Washpoppin, Inc. applying for trademarks to two phrases, specifically wanting to use both in “Pre-recorded record albums featuring music,” among other related uses.

The phrases are “Defamation of character” and “Intrusive thoughts.”

In addition to albums, Cardi also wants to be able to use the phrases for music videos, “downloadable music files,” and more.

She also revealed that the photo shoot for the album artwork is completed, telling a fan on X in September: “Album covers are taken. I just don’t know which to pick.”

And after sharing photos of her newborn that same month, she assured fans it was “crunch time” for her album, letting them know that she wasn’t going to be taking a break and extending the wait.

Since then, Cardi has often posted photos and videos from the studio, but there have been no further updates.
