Cardi B is eschewing the traditional sports team merch for something that’s a little more her speed.

The rapper attended the New York Knicks game last night where she traded in a sporty look for a preppy outfit. Cardi wore a cropped blue gingham button-up with a raw hem, which she paired with a brown plaid miniskirt with an ultra-high slit.

Cardi accessorised her schoolgirl look to maximalist perfection with a pair of Y2K-friendly sunglasses from Blackpink singer Jennie Kim’s collaboration with Gentle Monster, a pair of pink hair clips and a gold chain choker. It was also impossible to look away from her eye-catching shoes: a pair of white fuzzy boots from Loewe.

But while she was decked out from head to toe, Cardi B’s biggest flex by far dangled from her wrist: a 30cm Himalaya Hermès Birkin. The ultra-rare bag fetches resale prices starting in the $300,000 (£240,000) range.

Cardi joins the ranks of fellow celebrities who are drawing just as much (if not more) attention than the players with their courtside style. Recently, Kim Kardashian drew attention for plopping her rare Birkin on the floor during a Laker’s game. During the same match, Jennifer Lopez kept her Chanel flap squarely on her lap.

These days, flexing courtside seats is just the beginning. Cardi B knows that flaunting the holy grail of handbags is the biggest brag there is.
