Cardi B’s first and only album was ‘Invasion of Privacy,’ released in 2018
Cardi B is inching closer and closer to releasing her sophomore album.
During an interview with Complex 360 published Saturday, the 41-year-old rapper seemed confident her second album – which she has been teasing for the past five years – is coming out this year.
“My next announcement is gonna be my album. It’s not gonna be no more singles, no more freestyles. No more nothing,” she declared.
Born Belcalis Marlenis Cephus, the Bodack Yellow hitmaker released her first and only album, Invasion of Privacy, in 2018. Host Speedy Morman confronted her that she has been teasing her second album – also known as a “sophomore album” – for five years now.
“Do you have a time table? Will it certainly be this year?” he confirmed, to which Cardi reassured him, “We already have everything planned out. I’m telling you, the next announcement will be the album.
However, she admitted that she’s “not completely done” with the album and still wants to do “two, three [more] songs.”
Though she did not give up an exact release date, the Grammy winner promised that the announcement is coming “very soon, like, super soon.”
“I’m nervous but it’s like, I’m ready,” she said adamantly.
The 31-year-old rapper is keeping her momentum going after releasing two tracks this year: a one-off, freestyle track called Like What and another single, Enough (Miami).
She also revealed that, apart from her upcoming collaboration with Shakira, she has another collaboration with a mystery artist coming out soon.
