Rapper Cardi B has announced she is expecting a baby amid split news with husband Offset
Rapper Cardi B has announced she is expecting a baby amid split news with husband Offset. The rapper confirmed in a Thursday Instagram post that she is pregnant with her third baby, hours after news broke of her filing for divorce from estranged husband Offset.
Cardi referenced the split in her baby bump debut, writing, “With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power! Reminded me that I can have it all!”
“You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion,” Cardi continued in her message to her unborn child. “I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do! It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”
The renowned rapper, 31, sparked pregnancy speculation in June after her stomach strained against a buttoned black blazer onstage at the Inspiration Awards. Two weeks prior, she covered her belly in a pink sweatsuit while hosting an event. She and Offset previously welcomed daughter Kulture, 6, and son Wave, 2, in July 2018 and September 2021, respectively.
While the news is bittersweet for Cardi, she also knew a divorce was the most likely outcome of her on-again, off-again relationship with the musician. As her rep shared previously, “It has been a longtime coming.”
But the “Bodak Yellow” rapper, who tied the knot with the Migos member in 2017, also recognized the part she played in the end of their marriage and her lack of effort at times.
“Sometimes I cannot be … not that I cannot be a wife,” she explained to Rolling Stone in May. “My career takes my life. You know what I’m saying? My career comes first, then my kids come second. And then sometimes I don’t realize that I’m putting so many things before my relationship.”
But even so, Cardi is grateful for her relationship with the “Bad and Boujee” rapper. “The part I love is that we really like each other, like a support system,” she reflected. “We’re really both each other’s cheerleader.”
