Rapper Tory Lanez Has Been Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

Tory Lanez’s former driver, Juaquan Smith, recently came forward with an eyewitness account. The latter revealed in his testimony that he was unsure of who shot Megan Thee Stallion. The latest statement came amid Lanez’s lawyers attempting to appeal his prison sentence. Netizens have since taken to the internet to react to Smith’s claims.

Lanez’s lawyers submitted new court documents on December 12, 2023, containing the testimony of Juaquan Smith who claimed that he saw Megan Thee Stallion’s former friend Kelsey Harris holding a gun when the women got into an altercation; however, he did not see who shot Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete. Smith also claimed that Tory Lanez attempted to disarm Harris during the argument. Smith said:

“Ms. Pete and Ms. Harris began fighting. I pulled over to stop them, Ms. Pete and Ms. Harris both got out of the vehicle and continued to fight, both verbally and physically. I broke up this fight and was pulling Ms. Pete toward the back of the

“The District Attorney was not ready to cross-examine me”: Tory Lanez’ driver claimed he was not allowed to testify in the 2022 trial

Tory Lanez was convicted of illegal possession of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and negligent discharge of a gun for shooting a victim in 2022.

In efforts to appeal Lanez’s conviction, Smith stated in the affidavit that he was initially unable to come forward with his statement as the District Attorney refused to call him as a witness in court. Smith said:

“I wanted to present this evidence during Mr. Peterson’s trial but was prevented from doing so as the District Attorney was not ready to cross-examine me.”

The California Attorney General’s Office responded to Smith’s claims about not being allowed to testify on behalf of Lanez on July 26, 2024, stating that while they were aware of the testimony, they did not think it would benefit Tory Lanez’s case in any way.

They have also stated that Smith’s testimony has limited value as it does not help identify the shooter and is likely to be biased as Lanez is his close friend and employer.

As per Deputy Attorney General Michael C. Keller, “Recognizing that an independent eyewitness had placed the gun in the hands of Harris prior to the shooting, defense counsel explained that it would not ‘do anything’ to have appellant’s friend say the same thing.”

Tory Lanez was found guilty of shooting Megan Pete in the foot in July 2020 as the duo left a party that took place at reality star Kylie Jenner’s residence.
