Anne Hathaway is one of the most recognizable faces and voices in Hollywood today, meaning that people can sometimes be left in shock when she shows off her vocal range.
The Dark Knight Rises star has been a top actress for over two decades, dating back to her early starring roles in movies like The Princess Diaries and Ella Enchanted, but her star power has only risen in the years since.
Because of this, Hathaway is one of the most famous actors in the world today. However, as an actor, being able to adapt and portray different kinds of characters is the name of the game, even if you are at the top of the industry.
Hathaway did just that with her performance in WeCrashed, a show where her voice sounded drastically different from what one usually hears her sound like.
However, given that her voice has been higher-pitched in both projects and interviews before and since she appeared in the mini-series, it is believed that Hathaway was utilizing her vocal range to better fit the character she was playing.
The video of Hathaway’s performance in WeCrashed gained a lot of traction on X (formerly Twitter), where people were shocked to hear Hathaway speak with such a deep voice.
“I have never heard her voice be this deep,” said the user who posted a clip from the show, which amassed over 5.9 million views and 16,000 likes in under 12 hours.

Others were similarly impressed, with one commenter stating: “I like it. She adjusted to this role.”
“She was playing a real-life character,” another commenter explained, “and emulating that character’s really deep voice. This was a fascinating story.”
Speaking of that character, WeCrashed was a 2021 mini-series that starred Hathaway and Jared Leto as Rebekah Neumann and Adam Neumann, the married duo who led WeWork throughout the 2010s. The show followed the pair’s highs and lows within and outside of the company, leading to their respective resignations from WeWork and its related companies in 2019.

The show, which ran for a total of eight 50+ minute episodes, was met with generally positive reviews and is considered to be highly underrated. Many viewers and critics were especially impressed by Hathaway’s performance in WeCrashed, with several people online stating that she was the top highlight of the AppleTV+ series from start to finish.
