Justin Hartley‘s hit series Tracker offered his wife, Sofia Pernas, the chance to reprise her role as Billie in season 2 — but are there plans for more appearances?
Tracker, which premiered in February, introduced Hartley, 47, in the role of Colter, who travels the country helping with missing cases in exchange for the reward. Pernas, 35, joined the show one month later as Colter’s ex Billie who previously tricked him out of a payout.
The one-off appearance left viewers wanting more, which led to Pernas’ return during the Sunday, October 27, episode of the hit CBS series. Colter teamed up with Billie to solve a case in her hometown, and by the end of the day, they were reflecting on their childhood trauma.
“I wanted to do something positive and lasting here,” Billie told Colter about facing her past. “The thing is I was young, but I knew what my mom was doing was wrong and I didn’t stop her. I loved and hated her at the same time.”
Colter hinted that he also had some “dark family” secrets but stopped short of sharing them with Billie. He instead suggested they “not talk about it,” which opened the door for an unfinished conversation that Billie and Colter could address in the future.
“They have a nice scene where she really does open up to him,” Hartley told TVLine during a joint interview with Pernas, 35, about the pivotal scene before it aired. “The way that you played it was beautiful. Your performance suggests that you’ve never shared [this information] with anyone, ever.”
Fortunately for fans, this won’t be the only time Billie pops up during season 2. Hartley has made it clear that Pernas is set to return even more from here.
“She’s definitely coming back. We have some pretty cool stuff for her to do next year,” Hartley told Deadline in May. “She’ll be back several times next year.We built this really great group of actors [who are] hopefully more than willing to come back, because we’d love to play more with them. We have a bunch of stories to tell with all [of them].”
Hartley later exclusively told Us Weekly about working with Pernas, adding in July, “She’s wonderful. I mean, if I had my choice, I’d spend every minute with her. … She elevates scenes, and so it makes my job easier, actually. But yeah, it’s just wonderful to work with her.”
According to Hartley, the dynamic between Colter and Billie will continue to get even more intense.
“There’s a little bit of bad blood, but it’s also like, ‘Are they gonna mend things? Are they not? You know, can you trust her? I don’t know if you can,’” he continued. “I mean, she hasn’t proven that you can trust her, that Colter can trust her. So we’ll see how that evolves. It’s just a lot of, you know, a lot of room to work with that relationship.”
Tracker airs on CBS Sundays at 8 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Paramount+.
