What did Zach Bryan tweet? Country singer deactivates X account after taking shot at Chiefs, Taylor Swift image

Zach Bryan drew ire from Taylor Swift fans and Chiefs fans galore after typing up a controversial post on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Bryan, a country music superstar with four Grammy nominations to his name, appeared to take aim at Swift and Kansas City late Tuesday night. The move immediately backfired; Bryan deleted his Twitter account and issued a swift apology for his remarks.

What did Zach Bryan tweet?

On Tuesday night, Bryan fired off a tweet proclaiming that the Eagles are better than the Chiefs and Kanye West is better than Taylor Swift. He subsequently deleted the post — and his X account — amid backlash.

The tweet struck a nerve with Swift supporters. Bryan appeared to discount both Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City standout Travis Kelce. Additionally, Bryan’s post invoked Swift’s feud with West, who famously interrupted her during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and called her a “b—” in his 2016 track, “Famous.”

Bryan posted a lengthy apology on Instagram, revealing that he had been drinking the night before and felt compelled to compare records from Swift and West.

“For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night,” Bryan wrote, accompanied by a screenshot of Swift’s song with Post Malone, “Fortnight.”

“I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong. I know there’s a lot of stuff that clouds around Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often.”

Bryan vowed to stay off Twitter for the time being, acknowledging that the platform has gotten him “in trouble too much.”

“I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I pissed off or let down. Love you guys and I’m trying my best!” Bryan wrote.

In addition to his apology, Bryan posted a screenshot of another Swift track, “The Albatross.” He claimed that he is going through a rough spell in his life and “was projecting a little.”

“I respect her so much as a musician,” Bryan wrote. “The last thing I want is people thinking I don’t appreciate and love what she has done for music.”

“Don’t drink and tweet. Don’t drink and tweet!!”
