Watch Alan Ritchson get taught a lesson by a guy twice his size in the Reacher season 3 teaser

Prime Video has also revealed when the action-packed series based on Lee Child’s novels will return.

And you thought Jack Reacher cut an imposing figure.

In the action-packed new trailer for Reacher season 3, Alan Ritchson’s titular hero faces off with an opponent who towers over him — and that’s no small feat considering that Reacher is a seriously burly dude.

According to the Lee Child books that the Prime Video series is based on, Reacher is “6-foot-5, 250 pounds of muscle.” In season 3, however, he’ll come up against Paulie, a bad guy played by weight lifter Olivier Ritchers, who stands 7-foot-2, weighs 342 pounds, and is nicknamed “The Dutch Giant.”

“He’s twice my size,” Reacher says in the trailer.

His trusted friend and colleague Neagley (Maria Sten, reprising her role from seasons 1 and 2) has the perfect response: “First time I saw a guy twice your size was on Mount Rushmore.”

Reacher’s initial encounter with Paulie doesn’t go so smoothly, as the villain shrugs off a punch to the gut and then wallops the former MP officer upside the head, knocking him down in one blow. But the trailer also glimpses a rematch, as well as shootouts, explosions, vehicle chases, and more fisticuffs.

Based on Child’s novel Persuader (the seventh book in the series), season 3 will follow Reacher as he “hurtles into the dark heart of a vast criminal enterprise when trying to rescue an undercover DEA informant whose time is running out,” per a logline. Along the way, he’s forced to confront “unfinished business from his own past.”

New costars for Ritchson include former Brat Packer and The Dead Zone actor Anthony Michael Hall, as well as Johnny Berchtold, Sonya Cassidy, Robert Montesinos, Olivier Richters, Daniel David Stewart, and Brian Tee.

Reacher season 3 will premiere Feb. 20 with three episodes, and single episodes will drop each subsequent Thursday through March 27. The show has already been renewed for a fourth season that’s expected to film next year.
