Virgin River season six ended with a huge cliffhanger as Jack Sheridan discovered Charmaine had disappeared from her home – but what did he see?
Warning – this article contains major spoilers for Virgin River season 6. The finale of Virgin River season six had fans on tenterhooks, gasping as the final moments revealed an unexpected twist.
With hearts full from Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) saying their vows in a touching wedding ceremony, the happiness is short-lived when they find out that Jack’s ex-girlfriend, Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), has disappeared without a trace.
The new episodes of Netflix’s beloved drama follow Charmaine’s struggle as she deals with the unwanted attention of the town’s infamous criminal Calvin (David Cubbit) after finding out he’s the father of her newborn twins, sparking his interest in being part of their lives.
As the closing scenes of the latest series unfold, Jack, worried about Charmaine’s absence from their special day and her noticeable silence, goes to her house. What he finds is chaos; the house is turned upside down.

And then, against the eerie backdrop of a lullaby, he discovers something behind a door that leaves him visibly shocked before the screen fades to black. What did Jack find?
Theories are flying among dedicated viewers, some immediately suspecting foul play with Charmaine injured, or worse, dead, and Calvin running off with the babies.
The season seven premiere of the show has sparked intense discourse among fans on Reddit, who are proposing a range of fascinating plot twists. “I’m thinking Charmaine is dead and babies are with Calvin. They were definitely foreshadowing it,” ventured one fan before reconsidering, “Unless Charmaine staged the house to make it seem like something happened and ran away with the babies,” they posited, suggesting a safe haven far from Calvin.
“Somewhere where Calvin can’t find them.”
A different enthusiast hypothesized, “No one is in the bedroom. To get away from Calvin, Charmaine took the babies to Oregon where her aunt lives and previously offered for her to bring the twins and live with her.”
Imaginations ran wild among some viewers with grimmer forecasts: “Charmaine and Calvin had a fight, he died, she took kids and run away… and Jack found his body,” speculated another fan narrative. Others mulled over potential crime scene scenarios: “I was thinking Charmaine standing over Calvin’s body holding a gun? Or just the body and an empty apartment,” while another added, “I think he saw a body. And I think it will be Calvin, I think Charmaine will go to prison and she asks Mel and Jack to take care of the twins.”
Predictions went even further including family expansions, “(I think they will end up with three kids, including the baby from the surrogate mother).”
The speculation climaxed when, right before Jack’s harrowing discovery, the show unveiled another bombshell – Marley (Rachel Drance) breaking news to Mel that the baby’s expected adoptive parents had withdrawn their application, suggesting instead that Mel and Jack should become the child’s parents.
Should Charmaine be guilty of the alleged crimes and on the run with the twins, she could land in jail, complicating matters for Mel and Jack’s relationship. As for what season seven holds in store, answers are scarce – even from Henderson, the lead himself.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith revealed to TVLine: “Martin did not actually know what he was seeing.”
“It’s a testament to his acting talent that he was able, in a single look, to create several possible outcomes of what he was seeing. At one point, I was like, ‘Guys, what if we come back in this moment and it’s just like a Peloton? Maybe Jack didn’t know she had a Peloton! ‘” “But yeah, Charmaine has found herself in the middle of a mess again, which is where her character tends to reside.”
