Unlike Emily’s unmatchable wardrobe, these ideas are actually pretty easy to borrow, chic Parisian apartment or no.
The first half of Emily in Paris season 4 dropped on August 15, and to say we’re obsessed with the set design would be un peu of an understatement. While Emily in Paris is best known for its characters’ bold and colorful fashion looks, we think its interior design deserves just as much love.
From the Agence Grateau office to Emily and Mindy’s apartment, the set design features chic details and moody colors that make us want to transform our own homes into historic Parisian apartments. Keep reading to learn our favorite interior designs from Emily in Paris and how you can create the look in your home.
Emily’s Apartment
Emily’s apartment isn’t as flashy or bold as her fashion sense, but the small apartment still packs a style punch. Featuring natural wood beams and floors and rattan furniture, the apartment is a blend of French and bohemian interior styles. Emily makes use of vertical storage space by using floating shelves in the kitchen to display glasses and canisters. There’s also a clothing rack that Emily keeps by her bed that doubles as both storage and decor. Not only does the clothing rack provide essential storage in a small apartment, but the clothes on the rack also bring color and personality to the otherwise neutral space.
The first step to channeling Emily and Mindy’s apartment in your own home is to open up your curtains and let the natural light in. Make use of sconces and small table lamps instead of using harsh overhead lights. Using warm, subtle lighting will make your space seem warmer and create the perfect spot to snuggle up with a cup of tea and a pastry. You can also mix materials and styles to recreate the collected look of Emily’s apartment. Pair cane with glossy black finishes and brass with natural wood for a curated-over-years look.

Agence Grateau Office
Many scenes, including staff meetings, pitches, close calls, and meltdowns, have all taken place in the Agence Grateau, formerly known as Savoir, conference room. Lucky for us, the conference room is one of our favorite sets from the show. Coated in a gray-blue paint, the conference room features classic French style components like herringbone wood floors, wainscoting, and an intricate fireplace. The moody paint and modern table and chairs give the room a professional and chic feel.
To create the sophisticated look in your home or office, go for a moodier color palette of blues, grays, and browns. Balance out the dark hues with brighter accents like gold finishes and hardware, then play with different shapes and scales in your space. Experiment with curved chairs, a large table with interesting legs, and a dramatic mirror or light fixture for that next-level elegant flair.

Gabriel’s Restaurant
Gabriel’s restaurant, L’Espirit de Gigi, has undergone a few stylistic changes since the first season of Emily in Paris, and this season’s version is our favorite yet. With a neutral base, the restaurant looks warm and intimate, inviting guests to take a seat and share a meal. Similar to Emily’s apartment, the restaurant is lit mostly by wall sconces, lamps, and candles set on the tables. Other than the lighting, one of the restaurant’s most noticeable style elements are the wall moldings. In classic French fashion, the moldings follow a rectangular pattern and vary in size around the space. The moldings also serve as borders for other textures and prints on the walls.
Use renter-friendly press-on wall moldings to easily get the French look in your home. To take the project one step further, paint the moldings and your walls the same color—maybe a creamy brown to match L’Espirit de Gigi—to make the room cohesive. When decorating your space, take inspiration from the restaurant’s use of texture. Instead of going for bold colors and artwork, choose to use different textures and prints in the same color family.

Outdoor Dining Spaces
While we love a styled interior, we also love the simple beauty of outdoor entertaining spaces. Few venues could beat the streets of Paris as a spot to meet for coffee or have dinner al fresco. Take inspiration from the places Emily frequents for outdoor living and entertaining spaces in your home. To mimic Parisian street style, a bistro table and set of chairs are musts for your outdoor space. For a finishing touch, bring the City of Light to your own porch or backyard by hanging string lights around trees, posts, and railings.
