The search for pirate Blackbeard’s lost treasure is on. Netflix’s Outer Banks is back for its fourth season, delivering many dramatic and jaw-dropping moments in its first five episodes. (You can read a full breakdown of Part 1’s cliffhanger ending here.) Read on to learn when the Outer Banks Season 4, Part 2, will be released on Netflix.

Season 3 concluded with an 18-month time jump after the Pogues successfully discovered the gold in El Dorado. While still grappling with the deaths of Ward (Charles Esten) and Big John (Charles Halford), they were approached by Wes Genrette (David Jensen), who presented them with an offer to help find Blackbeard’s treasure.

Meanwhile, the fourth season opens by taking viewers back to the events leading up to that moment. The Pogues have created a safe haven, “Poguelandia 2.0,” where they run a bait, tackle, and charter tour shop—and they’re swimming in cas

But as the show’s co-creator Josh Pate told TVLine, John B. & Co. “are kids, and they’re knuckleheads sometimes, so they don’t manage [their funds] as well. They shoot themselves in the foot a little bit, too.”

“JJ with money is like a kid who’s never been able to have candy his whole life, and has been given a Red Bull,” his portrayer Rudy Pankow told the site, adding that it doesn’t take long before the “Most Likely to Go Rogue Pogue” starts spiraling. “He’s out there just bouncing off walls.”

Eventually, the crew starts experiencing financial setbacks, which leads John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope, and Cleo to take Wes up on his offer “and are drawn back into the “G” game for a whole new adventure.” Here’s when the final five Outer Banks Season 4 episodes will land on Netflix.

In the finale of Part 1, most of the crew—except for JJ and Kiara—heads to Charleston in search of the blue crown. However, they’re not the only ones on the hunt; Lightner and his boss, Dalia, are also lurking in the shadows trying to find clues.

Pope and Sarah volunteer to go into the catacombs, but Lightner and Dalia reach the tombs first and steal a scroll hidden there. While the villains manage to escape, Pope and Sarah aren’t so fortunate; the last viewers see of them in Part 1, they’re trapped underground as the crypt fills with floodwater from a nasty storm brewing overhead.

Meanwhile, Cleo and John B are unable to stop Lightner and Dalia when they surface from the tombs. John B experiences flashbacks of his late father killing Singh’s men, and he has one during a moment when he tries to shoot Lightner.

Back in the OBX, JJ is having a deep moment with his estranged father, Luke. In Episode 2, Wes Genrette wrote a letter addressed to “Master JJ Maybank,” advising JJ to ask his dad about the meaning of “Albatross” in case something bad happened.

When JJ presses him on the word’s meaining, Luke reveals to JJ that “Albatross” is the name of the boat on which Larissa Genrette died years ago. He also discloses that he’s not JJ’s biological father and that the woman JJ believed to be his mother was just one of Luke’s girlfriends.

So, what does this all mean? It means that Larissa is actually JJ’s real mother, making Wes his grandfather and Chandler Groff his biological father. Essentially, JJ is from one of the very things that he despises the most—a Kook.

Additionally, JJ’s alleged father makes a surprise appearance at the end of Episode 5 alongside Hollis Robinson. It seems he is working closely with the local realtor, who has been trying to purchase the Genrette land with Rafe Cameron’s backing throughout Part 1.
