‘That’s my fear’… Joe Rogan shares his verdict on the controversial fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson

Joe Rogan is glad Mike Tyson emerged from his comeback unscathed.

The UFC commentator and popular podcaster was one of the 60million people who tuned in to Netflix to watch ‘Iron Mike’ square off against Jake Paul on November 15.

Paul won, but he was unable to KO his 58-year-old opponent. Mike Tyson managed to make it through the full eight rounds in a decision defeat, despite looking like a shadow of his former self in the ring.

Joe Rogan worried that the former undisputed heavyweight champion, who he considers the greatest boxer of all time, was going to get seriously hurt fighting someone 31 years his junior.

Joe Rogan relieved after Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

Revered actor Josh Brolin recently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience.

The two men covered a variety of topics during their 150-minute conversation, which naturally saw them touch on the biggest fight of 2024.

“Wasn’t the Tyson-Jake fight amazing? Brolin said before bursting into laughter.

Rogan replied: “It’s amazing they got paid so much money for that.

“I think £20 million and $40 million, that’s what I heard.

“I’m happy that Mike got the money and I’m happy that he didn’t get hurt.

“That was my fear that it was a real fight and he’s going to get hurt.”

Paul admitted he carried Tyson ‘a bit’ as the boxing icon began to flag towards the end of their fight.

Although the 27-year-old showed mercy, his business partner, Nakisa Bidarian, has hit back at claims the fight was ‘rigged’ branding the suggestions ‘dumb’ during a conversation with Ariel Helwani.

“For anyone to suggest this was in any way a rigged fight, they are either dumb or looking for attention,” the Most Valuable Promotions co-founder said.

Will Mike Tyson fight again?

Mike Tyson claimed he would fight on immediately after his comeback defeat was confirmed—he even called out Logan Paul as the YouTuber-turned-WWE star celebrated with his brother in the ring.

However, after taking some time away with his nearest and dearest, Tyson issued a social media statement suggesting he was done with boxing for good.

Rogan will certainly be glad to hear that his friend won’t fight again.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” Tyson wrote on X. “I’m grateful for last night.

“No regrets to get in ring one last time. I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lb in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.

“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”
