Fans are still digesting what was another epic weekend of fighting action. Not only did we have the long awaited bout between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, which ended up being rather disappointing, it was then followed up by a stacked card at UFC 309 on Saturday night.
This card certainly did not disappoint, with a number of memorable fights throughout, most notably the co-main between Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira and then the huge heavyweight clash between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.
The atmosphere was electric in a packed out Madison Square Garden in New York, with some star-studded guests in attendance, including Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
What Happened at UFC 309
Charles Oliveira & Jon Jones picked up huge wins
Charles Oliveira would go on to defeat Michael Chandler for a second time in a unanimous decision victory, after five gruelling rounds between two legends of the sport. Jones and Miocic, however, didn’t quite go the distance, with Bones winning by TKO in the third round after a devastating spin kick to the liver which was enough to slump Stipe.

After the card was finished, the UFC announced their usual awards for the evening, giving Fight of the Night to Chandler and Oliveira, and awarding Performance of the Night bonuses to Jones and two other fights from the earlier undercard bouts. This extra cash meant an even bigger payday for Jones, with the four fighters from the top two Fights of the Night walking away with a healthy paycheck to add to their career winnings.
Selected UFC 309 Salaries
Unsurprisingly, Jon Jones pocketed the most money
The UFC have released the full list of fighter salaries for all those who took part in UFC 309, as per BetMGM, which you can see below. Unsurprisingly, Jon Jones topped the list and is expected to have pocketed just under $6.3m, with his opponent Miocic taking home $4.2m in comparison.

These are staggering numbers and will just add to the crazy amounts these two have already earned in their illustrious careers. Putting their bodies on the line the way they do is certainly not for the faint of heart, and you have to be a certain type of person to be able to step foot in that Octagon, which justifies these huge payouts.
Chandler and Oliveira come next on the list, both earning just under $1.1m for what was a true classic. You can see just how much the payouts drop off from the main event downwards, with arguably the more entertaining fights producing a much smaller payout for the fighters.

If anything, this just highlights why the younger and up-and-coming fighters are so desperate to make it to the very top, because it is really where the big money is earned. Unless you are a co-main or main event fighter, the money you are earning is minuscule in comparison. The battle to reach the top is about more than just legacy. These guys are fighting to change their lives.
Eyes now look ahead to the next big card, with UFC 310 set to take place on Saturday, the 7th of December in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the main event being an exciting flyweight title fight between Alexandre Pantoja and Kai Asakura.
