Nobody Wants This

Netflix

I just finished watching Nobody Wants This on Netflix, featuring what I would argue is one of the most charismatic casts on TV between Veronica Mars, Seth Cohen, Jonah and Willa. Sorry, I mean Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Timothy Simmons and Justine Lupe. Now, we have some news on a potential season 2 of Nobody Wants This.

An Indiewire interview with creator Erin Foster, where the story of the show is semi-autobiographical, had this to say about a potential second season, given that the show was not pitched as a miniseries, necessarily:

“We’re getting a really positive response,” Foster said “And so I think the conversations have definitely started to happen about a potential Season 2. The story in Season 1 unfolds really slowly. And so I think if there is a Season 2 I would want to just kind of pick up where we leave off and continue to take it slow, because I don’t want us to get too far ahead of ourselves. I mean, I want my show to be on the air as long as possible!”

What’s interesting is that the quote is from before the show launched, and now it has found great success, planted at #1 on Netflix’s Top 10 list with millions of hours watched.

We also have a new quote from her via The Wrap, now that the show has ended:“I would love to do a Season 2; Kristen and Adam would love to do a Season 2,” Foster said. “There’s so much more story to tell so if people like the show, then I would be really excited to keep telling it.”

If she’s in, the cast is in, the show is at #1 with extremely positive reviews, and it is not some sort of massive big-budget spectacle, I am 100% sure that Nobody Wants This will get a season 2. I’ve been covering this sort of thing long enough to know all the telltale signs of a Netflix renewal and this has absolutely all of them. My only hope is that they do not split up season 2 into five and five episodes airing a month apart.

As for the ending (spoilers) we now find ourselves in a doubly unique situation where Noah has seemingly abandoned his dreams of becoming head rabbi to stay with Joanne who did not want to convert to Judaism. And in the B-plot, Sasha and Morgan’s flirtatious relationship has caught the attention of his wife and mother, which is likely to spell disaster.

I cannot recommend this show enough, and get on board before the season 2 renewal.
