Netflix’s newest romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This is already proving to be a hit, and the streamer has ordered season 2. Created for the small screen by Erin Foster (loosely based on her own experience), the series follows agnostic podcaster, Joanne (Kristen Bell), who falls for an unorthodox rabbi, Noah (Adam Brody), and their unconventional relationship ruffles more than a few feathers along the way. Exploring some of the taboo topics that are often left out of most rom-coms (namely religious differences), the series turns the genre on its ear with plenty of humor and heart.

With such a fun and open-ended premise, Nobody Wants This had immediate second season potential, and speculation has already begun about where Joanne and Noah are headed next. Even more, the series has proven to be a big hit with critics, and the ending of Nobody Wants This season 1 was anything but conclusive. This sets the stage for an ongoing narrative that could continue in not only one more season, but a multi-season arc on Netflix. As such, the streamer quickly ordered season 2 of Nobody Wants This.

Netflix Orders Season 2 With Some Changes
Just weeks after the show’s dynamic debut on the platform, the latest news confirms that Netflix has renewed Nobody Wants This season 2. Proving just how quickly the series caught on, the streamer picked up more episodes of the unorthodox rom-com, but season 2 will see some changes. Series creator Erin Foster will step back as showrunner, and turn the reins over to Girls alums Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan. No reason for the change was given, but Foster issued a glowing statement about the show’s renewal, saying:
Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me. The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls … Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!

Will Kristen Bell & Adam Brody Return?
The cast of Nobody Wants This was perhaps its strongest asset, and the chemistry between stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody has all the hallmarks of a classic rom-com power couple. Along with the main duo, the ensemble of Nobody Wants This is just as important, including Joanne’s sister Morgan (Justine Lupe), and Jackie Tohn as Esther, Noah’s protective sister.

What’s Next For Noah & Joanne?
The conclusion of season 1 left the couple on shaky ground at best, and there are still plenty of lingering questions that will need to be addressed in Nobody Wants This season 2. Firstly, Joanne’s decision not to convert to Judaism will always be a sticking point until quite a few hearts are changed, though she may eventually make the switch for the right reasons after all. However, there are forces at work to drive the couple apart, and lies from both families are destined to come to a head eventually. How the pair weathers those storms will be the true meat of Nobody Wants This season 2.
