Emily in Paris season four was finally released last week, and fans have a lot to say about it. Especially where things ended for Camille (Camille Razat).
Now, you’ve been warned, we are about to discuss major spoilers for the mid-season finale, so look away if you haven’t watched it! Don’t blame us if you see a spoiler!
Season four begins with Emily (Lily Collins) in a bit of a weird position. Not only was she dumped by her boyfriend, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), after Camille cancelled her wedding to Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) because she believed he and Emily were in love. But Camille is also pregnant with Gabriel’s baby while also secretly being in love with a woman named Sofia (Melia Kreiling).
This turn of events means that if Emily does start dating Gabriel, she’s also become part of a love… square – because Gabriel and Camille will always be connected once they become parents.
However, at the end of episode five, we learn that Camille was never actually pregnant at all, and the test she did must have given her a false positive. It also came after she and Sofia broke up because she believed Camille was too focused on the baby and Gabriel and not on her.

In a strange twist, Camille decides not to tell Gabriel that she’s not pregnant after seeing him so excited about the impending birth at his party, celebrating that he’s not getting a Michelin Star.
Fans have been baffled by this “unhinged” moment, with some saying it’s “so unrealistic”.
‘I don’t think Camille did anything wrong’
One Reddit user kicked off the discussion, saying they were on Camille’s side, writing, “I don’t think Camille did anything wrong by not telling Gabriel. Like she just found out that she was never pregnant after accepting and being happy with the reality of being a mom, to expect her to immediately run and tell Gabriel is not realistic nor fair to her nor is that the setting to tell him that.
“She should be allowed time to grieve or gain the strength to tell him as she did also have to accept that her and Gabriel would be bound together forever but now aren’t. And honestly, Camille never really got the chance to grieve nor process the end of her relationship with Gabriel.

“Also, IDGAF that she cheated on Gabriel like I never even wanted her back with his boring loser self but it also dawned on me that she still loved him and was having a hard time letting go despite the fact he does not treat her good. Gabriel hater for life.”
‘Unhinged behaviour’
Not everyone agreed, and the post sparked quite a discussion.
“Moving next door to the dad (that you’re not with anymore) and planning for a nursery when you haven’t confirmed an unplanned pregnancy with a gynaecological exam is unhinged behaviour,” one user replied.
They added, “That neither Gabriel nor Sophie [urged] her to go to the doctor isn’t normal either. You would want to know the stage of the pregnancy and whether the foetus was healthy… there are 300 questions an expectant parent would want answered before signing a lease or buying a damn rocking horse!”
“It’s also unhinged writing,” another user responded, while the original poster replied, “It is absurd that she never did those things and that’s just terrible writing because all of that is so unrealistic 😭.”

Some questioned why the writers didn’t consider other more realistic avenues, with one user writing, “Honestly I don’t think the writers were brave enough to write a miscarriage (or an abortion which honestly would have been my preference). This allowed them to write out the pregnancy storyline (baby actors are expensive lol and tbh I don’t think having a kid would fit the vibe of the show) without dealing with any uncomfy/dark/controversial topics.”
Another user replied, “I don’t think it’d be in character for Camille to get an abortion tbh. Even if she no longer wanted Gabriel in that way I think she’d still consider him family in a way and would welcome having a baby from that relationship even if it wasn’t meant to last romantically.”
Others suggested that Camille perhaps “leapt at the chance to still have a connection with Gabriel” through the baby.
One fan even suggested that Camille and Gabriel would get back together. After all, he did tell her to keep his grandmother’s engagement ring because he sees her as family.
“The news is not just hers,” another pointed out. “This information belongs to Gabriel just as much as it belongs to her. Again, that moment wasn’t it but she should have made effort as soon as she knew.”
