Tyson could make as much as 40 million dollars from the fight

Mike Tyson

Iron Mike Tyson denied that he is fighting Jake Paul for the money as the ex-undisputed heavyweight champion returns to the ring for his first professional fight since 2005 on November 15.

The 58-year-old is known for his rich and lavish lifestyle and it could have possibly taken a toll on his bank account throughout the years, resulting in him signing on with Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions for the bout which is not necessary to secure his legacy.

But he sensationally denied that suggestion and added he wants the fight for the fight instead of the estimated $20m-$40m in money to convince the Baddest Man on the Planet to return to the ring.

“I could use a buck like everybody else,” Tyson admitted to Stephen A Smith. “But this money, believe it or not, is not going to change my lifestyle. [I will be] able to do what I’m normally able to do if I didn’t have this fight.”

The former-WBC champion, who fought greats such as Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis and Buster Douglas, expanded on why he feels as though he needs to appear in the ring for the first time since 2020 considering the risk to the almost-60-year-old’s health.

“Just the fact this is what I want to do,” Tyson continued. “I want to get out of my comfort zone and I want to test myself.

“Whatever I’m afraid to do, I do. That’s just my mentality. If I’m afraid to do something, I do it.”

When will Tyson fight Jake Paul?

Tyson last fought competitively against Kevin McBridge in 2005 and suffered a sixth-round stoppage to the journeyman in a disappointing end to his pro career, so by taking on Paul, that could be his way of rectifying that wrong.

And he will do so in a series of two-minute rounds, limited to eight rounds, with 14oz gloves as the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations seeks to ensure he remains safe from internal injuries and brain trauma.

They will meet in the ring at the home of the Dallas Cowboys, the AT&T Stadium, on Friday, November 15.
