While season 3 of Emily in Paris had a lot of great moments, there have been questions about whether the McBaguette was real or not. As a marketing executive and social media guru for an American company that has an office in Paris, Emily Cooper has made Paris her second home thanks to some genius ideas she’s had over the past three seasons on Netflix. While the show mainly focuses on Emily’s chaotic love life, it’s her marketing skills that allow her to stay in Paris for the long haul. One of her more talked about brand deals was with McDonald’s. After having some issues with competing companies, one of the biggest unanswered questions of season 3 was if Emily was going to go back to Chicago with her American boss or remain in Paris. When the opportunity came up to work with McDonald’s for their French sector, Emily knew this could be a huge career move if she marketed an interesting sandwich that McDonld’s had in mind for its Parisian restaurant the right way. Seeing a crossover between a real restaurant and a fictional show was unique, curiosity has arisen as to whether the sandwich she was promoting was even real.

What Is On The McBaguette?

In season 3, episode 1, “I Have Two Lovers,” Emily’s ex-boyfriend, Doug, hired Emily’s firm to pitch a marketing campaign for McDonald’s McBaguette. No one expected season 3 of Emily in Paris to cover a McDonald’s campaign, and while Emily’s boss, Sylvie, shot down the idea because she wanted to work with high-end clientele, Emily knew working with McDonald’s would be great for their company and a chance to do something big.

Emily and her team were able to make the fast food sandwich chic. As it turns out, the McBaguette is real and was originally released in 2012, and thanks to season 3, the sandwich is back on menus. Branding it as a “little luxury,” the McBaguette’s ingredients include two hamburger patties, cheese, mustard, and lettuce on a baguette. The menu item comes with a drink, fries, and two macaroons (via Delish). The reference to the Parisian McDonald’s could also be seen as a Sex and the City Easter egg when Carrie went to a French McDonald’s in a ballgown, considering both shows have the same creator, Darren Star.

The McBaguette Is Only Available In France

With the sandwich being a cheeseburger on a chicer bun, it’s sadly not sold in North America. Like Emily, people can only try the McBaguette in France for a short time as a limited menu item. The famous fast-food restaurant shared (via McDonald’s), “The McBaguette is available in most McDonald’s® stores in France for delivery, drive or Click and Collect. It is sold alone or in a menu.”

The Cast & Crew Of Emily In Paris Have Ate The McBaguettes Several Times

While filming the scene when Emily, Julien, and Luc try the McBaguette to come up with marketing ideas, tensions rose as Sylvie began to view Emily as the villain in Emily in Paris, especially after agreeing to the deal without her consent (and then began to clutter the office with sandwich bags). Funny enough, those bags Sylvie saw were real because the cast got to actually eat the sandwiches. In an interview with Decider, Samuel Arnold (Julien) said, “I was so hungry that day, and they told me, ‘You know, you can eat the McBaguette.’ And I think I ate like two or three of those. It’s very good”

Although Emily in Paris fans would have to travel to France to have a taste of the McBaguette, TikTokers are already creating their own versions by placing their burgers on a baguette instead of a hamburger bun. While the sandwich is only on the menu for a limited time, the classy fast-food burger is all thanks to an American in Paris.
