Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This” stars Adam Brody and Kristen Bell as love interests.
Fans can’t stop talking about their characters’ first kiss during episode two.

Bell said it was Brody’s idea to hold her face during the scene, and that it’s her best on-screen kiss.

Netflix’s new rom-com series “Nobody Wants This” was released only a few days ago, but the main characters’ swoon-worthy first kiss is already being heralded by fans as one of TV’s greatest.

“Nobody Wants This” stars Adam Brody as Noah Roklov, a newly single rabbi, and Kristen Bell as Joanne, an agonistic host of a sex podcast. When they meet for the first time at a party, their chemistry is undeniable, but they can’t ignore the stark differences in their lifestyles and ideologies.

It’s not until episode two that Noah and Joanne have their first kiss, right after friend-zoning each other because they’ve agreed that a relationship between them would never work. Although they conclude their date as friends, curiosity about a goodbye kiss lingers, and they go for it — after Noah assertively puts her ice cream cup on the ground and tells her to put her bag down so she’s fully prepared for the moment.

Then, Noah puts his left hand on Joanne’s face and they share a passionate kiss.

“I mean, is there a world where this works?” Noah asks after sparks fly.

“…Yeah?” Joanne replies.

The kiss is easily one of the standout scenes of the 10-episode season.

“I have never been kissed like that and I think if I ever am, It would change my entire personality,” one fan with the user name @Biene__B wrote on X.

Fans are delighted not just by Brody and Bell’s chemistry, but by the way Brody holds Bell’s face during many of their kissing scenes.

In interviews, Brody and Bell said that the scene was daunting because it was described in the script as “the world’s greatest kiss.” They also attributed the magic of the scene to the anticipation that builds slowly before their characters actually lock lips. Bell also told MTV that Brody made a creative choice that took the kiss to the next level.

“My greatest memory is that I wasn’t prepared for Adam to put his hands on my face as he did with so many of the kisses,” Bell said, adding that she recalled hearing some of the crew members gasp. “And I was like, ‘Oh, this is gonna work.'”

In an interview with TVLine, Bell also said that the scene is “probably the best on-screen kiss I’ve ever done.”

“Nobody Wants This” creator Erin Foster, whose life inspired the show, told Entertainment Weekly that she wanted the characters to “have a really cool, playful first kiss.”

“It all felt pretty natural,” Brody told EW. “There wasn’t a lot of premeditation about it.”

Brody and Bell have known each other for years and previously worked together. In various interviews, Bell said that she immediately knew she wanted Brody to play Noah when she read the script and put out feelers early on.

“I said it’s gotta be Brody because the character has to be so charming, almost annoyingly charming to pull off this role,” Bell told Extra. “And I was like, ‘You guys gotta look at Adam Brody because he’s gonna be the one. I promise.’ And thankfully, we convinced him to do it.”
