Jake Paul has confirmed that Mike Tyson set the rules for their heavyweight showdown on Friday.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer has tempted the former undisputed champions out of retirement for his first professional fight since 2005.

Tyson, 58, will take on the 27-year-old Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which is home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

The fight has been officially sanctioned fight, with a few tweaks such as eight two-minute rounds – rather than 12 three-minute rounds – and 14-ounce gloves.

Speaking on Sean O’Malley’s podcast, Paul said of the rules: “Yeah, that was always what he wanted from day one and I just wanted to agree to his rules, [to get it done].

“That’s mostly how I am with these fights, like, ‘what makes sense? Let’s make it a fair fight and move on and just make it happen’.”

Tyson has earlier said: “I wanted the shorter rounds because I wanted more action. If we only have two minutes, we’ll fight more.”
