Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) and Emily (Lily Collins) look somewhat happy in Emily in Paris season 4, part 1 with a blurred Parisian skyline behind them

Emily in Paris season 4, part 1 picks up where the previous outing left off, which means it delves into the ongoing love triangle between Emily (Lily Collins), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount). In Emily in Paris season 3’s ending, Camille (Camille Razat) calls off her marriage to Gabriel at the last minute, revealing that she’s pregnant with his child, but unwilling to wed him because of the feelings he’s harboring for Emily. Hearing this, Alfie breaks up with Emily. Although he doesn’t quite wait for her side of the story, Alfie refuses to be anyone’s second choice.

In the fourth outing, Emily in Paris‘ cast of characters return for more relationship drama. Although Camille initially disappears to clear her head, she pursues a relationship with Sofia (Melia Kreiling), leaving the door wide open for Emily and Gabriel to rekindle their romance. Of course, Emily and Gabriel’s relationship timeline has been plagued by ill-timed events — and their trajectory in season 4 is no exception. Although Emily and Alfie split, the AMI “Love is in the Air” campaign forces the duo to reevaluate their dynamic, which brings the love triangle back — at least until Alfie vanishes.

The End Of Emily & Alfie’s Relationship Was Very Strange In Emily In Paris

Alfie Vanishes After Emily In Paris Season 4, Episode 3

Alfie in Emily in Paris season 4

After participating in a publicity stunt for AMI on the Roland-Garros kiss cam, Alfie and Emily decide to more formally end their relationship. Even though Gabriel tells Alfie to be with Emily, Laviscount’s character can’t move past Emily and Gabriel’s history and baggage. Over the course of the next few episodes, Emily and Alfie have a few run-ins at work, but, otherwise, Emily seems more interested in pursuing a romance with Gabriel. Things shift once more in Emily in Paris season 4, episode 3, “Masquerade” — an episode that revolves around a masquerade ball for a product launch.

Weirdly, Alfie never appears (or gets mentioned) again.

During the ball, Emily in Paris season 4’s soundtrack underscores the tough decision Emily is faced with: Should she pick Gabriel or Alfie? Although she shares a fun moment on the dance floor with Alfie early on, Emily ultimately chooses Gabriel. Since it’s a masquerade ball, mistaken identity hijinks ensue. Alfie runs up to a masked woman who he thinks is Emily, declares his love, and kisses her. When he realizes it isn’t Emily, Alfie catches sight of her dancing with Gabriel, throws down his mask in frustration, and leaves the ball. Weirdly, Alfie never appears (or gets mentioned) again.

Will Alfie Return In Emily In Paris Season 4 Part 2?

It Seems Like Emily In Paris Is All In On Gabriel & Emily’s Relationship

Emily in Paris Season 4-36

There’s no doubt that Emily in Paris season 4’s love triangle was wildly short-lived. On the one hand, it’s nice to move past that kind of relationship drama and see Emily make a more lasting decision about her future. However, there’s no denying that the end of Emily and Alfie’s relationship was both abrupt and bizarre, offering no real sense of closure for either party. It’s hard to say if Alfie will return for Emily in Paris season 4, part 2. Despite his professional ties to Emily, it seems more likely that the show will write Alfie out.

Emily in Paris season 4, part 1 is streaming on Netflix, with part 2 slated for a September 12, 2024, release date.
