If you thought Netflix’s hit series Virgin River was just about Mel’s love story, season 6 is even more dramatic

Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel in Virgin River-1

If you thought that the Netflix hit series Virgin River solely tells the story of Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack’s (Martin Henderson) love story, then Season 6 of the series probably taught you that you were wrong. Yes, the main couple in Virgin River is somehow always connected to the major twists and turns that happen in this small town, but there are quite a few characters who certainly managed to bring along an avalanche of chaos all by themselves. Even though the entire season kept us on our feet and wanting to find out more about the chaotic events in Virgin River, the ending of Season 6 left us with not only one but a handful of cliffhangers. Let’s take a look at what happened in Virgin River’s last episode and what it might mean for the future.

Will Doc Lose the Clinic?

Doc’s future is quite uncertain, to say the least. During an emergency in a rural area with little to no cell service, Doc performed an intense operation on a dying patient. He did so even though his video call with a specialist was cut off, and only his grandson and intern, Danny, was present. A doctor at the hospital condemned his actions and started a whole investigation against him, which eventually threatened the loss of his license. At the same time, the hospital has contacted Hope to let her know that there is a conversation about expanding to Virgin River and, as a consequence, replacing Doc’s clinic.

Doc running his clinic has been the backbone of the popular Netflix series, so taking this aspect away would feel way too messy. Maybe a petition started by Hope in which the whole town’s signatures are collected will stop the new hospital from being built and save Doc’s clinic. True Virgin River style.

Will Mike and Brie Get Married?

Mel and Jack’s wedding was one massive whirlwind for Brie. First, Brady shows up with Lark in company, even though she tried to steal a massive amount of money from him, and then he confesses his feelings to Brie. After that, Brie has a heartfelt conversation with Mel and Kaia, in which she somewhat decides to break up with Mike, as her uncertainty is unfair towards him.

Then Mike suddenly proposes to her, even though he already knows about Brie cheating on him with Brady. What a great day! Brie, Mike, and Brady are clearly part of a love triangle, so this could go two ways. Either Brie is finally ready to let Brady go and sees this as her second chance of having a wholesome relationship with someone who can offer her stability, or she decides to give Brady another shot. The Brady-Brie shippers should stop reading because, in all honesty, Mike wants to marry her even though she cheated and lied to him. It seems he understands her better than she thinks, which makes him a great guy.

Did Lark Con Brady For Real This Time?

Brady truly got handed some rough cards. Yes, he did walk on the wrong path for a second there, but Season 6 of the Netflix original series focused on Brady’s dedication to becoming a better person and living a good life. He almost managed to live a good life until he didn’t. Unfortunately, Lark overheard Brady and Brie, as he basically told her that she was the love of his life. Lark put on a sweet front but actually disappeared and stole all of Brady’s money. Honestly, Lark and Brady could be the couple at the center of a movie about con artists, that’s for sure.

Lark’s exit feels relatively certain, and the chance to see her or the money returned to Brady is almost non-existent. Her character isn’t needed for Brady’s story development, and there is no way they would get back together. The next season will probably look at how he deals with the fact that all his money is gone and that Brie is still the love of his life.

Will Jack and Mel Adopt Marley’s Baby?

Ever since the first season of Netflix’s longest-running original series, it has been made clear that Mel (and, at this point, Jack) really want to have children. After a previous heartbreaking loss, though, they made the decision to look into adoption. Simultaneously, Mel had a patient, Marley, who was attending Mel’s courses together with the baby’s future adoptive parents.

Just a day after Mel’s wedding, Marley showed up at her house, explaining to her that the adoptive parents had chickened out and she wanted Mel to take over their role. Now, this will certainly throw Jack and Mel off a bit since they have been waiting to receive the call but never expected it would happen like this. If Mel and Jack can come to an agreement, maybe we will finally get to see them with a baby in the record-setting Netflix series.

What Did Jack See at the End of ‘Virgin River’ Season 6?

One of the biggest questions regarding the ending of the global, charts-topping Netflix series Season 6 finale is what Jack saw in the last scene of the episode. During Mel and Jack’s wedding, Charmaine was a no-show, which could have been fine considering that she was very overwhelmed by raising her twins, but there is a different, darker reason behind it. Charmaine was getting a restraining order for her twins’ dad and previous drug lord, Calvin, who got out of prison.

He continuously threatened Charmaine ever since she got full custody. So, when Jack comes over to her house to check on her, he finds a mess in the living room and only hears a lullaby playing from the nursery. When he opens the door, all we get to see is a shocked face. It is unlikely that Clavin took Charmaine and left the twins there since his goal was to raise his boys himself.

Another theory is that Calvin killed Charmaine, which seems odd since Jack was shocked. That said, he would be devastated if he saw Charmaine’s dead body in front of him. Since Virgin River’s showrunner, Patrick Sean Smith, is more than excited to see that fans are beginning to like Charmaine, she will likely return for Season 7 of Virgin River.

It could be that Charmaine actually killed Calvin in self-defense. He is, after all, handicapped, and maybe she somehow managed to protect herself and her children. If this is the case, then maybe it would put Charmaine in the position of potentially facing a prison sentence, and Mel and Jack might step up to look after her twins. Maybe the scenes in which Mel and Jack are looking after Charmaine’s twins were foreshadowing. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until Season 7 of Virgin River is released to find out. Virgin River is available to stream on Netflix.
