According to regulations followed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), both fighters must serve the minimum suspension period after competing in the ring.

For both Paul and Tyson, this suspension period will last 24 days, meaning that the next time they will be allowed to step into a boxing ring will be December 9.

The official regulations set by the TDLR state that fighters must rest for at least three days per round fought, meaning that Paul and Tyson must be sidelined for 24 days having completed all eight rounds of the bout.

However, should they wish to fight sooner then either fighter could appeal the suspension and request a hearing where to prove their fitness.

Regulations from the TDLR state: “Medical disqualification of a contestant is for their own safety and may be made at the recommendation of the examining physician or TDLR.

“A contestant who disagrees with a medical disqualification, medical suspension or rest period set at the discretion of a ringside physician or a disqualification or suspension set by the department may request a hearing to show proof of fitness.”

In the co-main event of the evening, undisputed women’s world light-welterweight champion Katie Taylor successfully defended her belts against former rival Amanda Serrano in a brutal 10-round slugfest.

As a result of the brutal fight, which Taylor edged by a 95-94 unanimous decision, both women have been handed a 45-day medical suspension to fully recover from the bout.

This means that they will not be permitted to return to the ring until December 30 at the earliest.
