Emily in Paris season 3 recap: Emily is overstepping the mark with Julien and Alfie got a new job too

Emily was yet again undecided between Alfie and Gabriel

She’s back! The Olympics may be over, but we’re not leaving Paris anytime soon, as Lily Collins is back on our TV screens as Emily Cooper for another season of Emily in Paris. The first part of the fourth season of the iconic Netflix series dropped earlier today (15th August) and we’ve dusted off our berets, and are fully sat for another series full of chaotic escapades from our favourite expat.

Speaking of, what were Emily and co up to the last time we saw them in Paris? Well, there’s actually a lot of question marks surrounding the future lives of Emily, her colleagues, her friends and her lovers (yes we said multiple because we can never keep up). So consider this is your whistle stop tour of all the major headlines to come out of Emily in Paris season three and where the characters are now heading into the new season.

Emily in Paris season 3 recap

Emily is overstepping the mark with Julien

After starting the season in an awkward position balancing working for both Madeline (Kate Walsh) and Sylvie ((Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Emily finally made her mind up at the end of episode three and began working for Sylvie full time at her new company Agence Grateau. Although don’t forget that time where she was temporarily unemployed and began working as a waitress at Gabriel’s (Lucas Bravo) restaurant, only to be fired for nearly killing a man with a mushroom allergy.

Anyway, moving swiftly on. As Emily always does she pulls insane ideas out of nowhere and somehow manages to pull them off. However, in doing so she is frequently stepping on Julien’s (Samuel Arnold) toes and was often seen interrupting his pitches with her own ideas. Très rude.

Julien told Sylvie about this, and while she promised to do something about it. Julien is not convinced and the last we saw of him he was firing off a mysterious email to an unknown employer. Let’s hope Emily’s actions don’t cause Julien to leave the company.

Alfie got a new job too

At the beginning of season three Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) was still in a relationship with Emily but planning to move back to London. On the night of his leaving party, Emily is too distracted by her McDonald’s pitch and misses his party, causing the couple to argue, and Alfie to basically stop talking to Emily.

However, curveball, Antoine (William Abadie) reveals he’s actually hired Alfie as his CFO so he doesn’t have to leave Paris. Yay. And double yay as Emily manages to win Alfie back by singing a song about him, which we could all have done with not hearing, no offence Emily.

The couple are pretty strong throughout the season, even having sex in a ferris wheel at one point, but of course Gabriel is always in the picture…

Gabriel is plotting world wide restaurant domination

Speaking of Gabriel, he’s back with Camille (Camille Razat) in season three and much of his storyline is focussed on wondering if Camille is happy with him or if she’s cheating on him (she totally is, but not with who he thinks, but we’ll get to that later).

The other half of his storyline revolves around his beloved restaurant and earning a Michelin star. After visiting a Michelin starred restaurant with Emily in episode six, he becomes more resolved than ever to build a future for himself and Camille. He asks for a raise from Antoine (who owns the restaurant FYI) and Alfie, who one up him and offer him ownership of the restaurant.

Gabriel’s grandmother comes down to help him with the restaurant, which he’s now named after her. Luc’s (Bruno Gouery) ex girlfriend turns out to be a Michelin judge and he takes her to the restaurant and as this a TV show, of course, she naturally gives Gabriel a Michelin star.

Mindy has a new boyfriend and is heading to Eurovision

We started out the season with Mindy (Ashley Park) singing her heart out as always and has been having sex with her fellow band member Benoit (Kevin Dias).

But her happiness is kinda short lived as she’s introduced to Nicolas de Leon (Paul Forman), who is part of JVMA family that is sort of working with Sylvie’s agency, and therefore by extension Emily. Did we mention he’s a billionaire btw?

It turns out Nicolas and Mindy went to the same fancy boarding school in Switzerland and Nicolas is desperate to restart their connection. While Mindy is unaware of this, Benoit isn’t and they have a very ambiguous breakup in episode five.

Shortly after, Mindy and Nicolas begin dating, and things are going swimmingly, until Emily gets involved. Classic.

JVMA decide to stop work with designer Pierre (Jean-Christophe Bouvet) as a person and just keep his brand, replacing him with avant-garde designer Gregory (Jeremy O. Harris). After literally getting run over, Pierre is in no shape to hear about this news, and so Sylvie goes to Nicolas’ dad Louis (Pierre Deny) instead and gets him to shut down the reports.

Nicolas is furious with Emily for interfering (tbf it wasn’t really her fault) and hatches a new plan, but Emily and Sylvie are one step ahead and Nicolas ends up humiliated in front of his father, and so he fires Sylvie. At a party later on Mindy confronts Emily about her treatment of Nicolas and Nicolas then kicks Emily out of the party. Sorry but what is happening to our favourite besties?

Thankfully Alfie steps in to save the day and tells Mindy about Nicolas’ behaviour to Emily at the party and Mindy obviously apologises to Emily. Nicolas then became reluctant about attending Camille and Gabriel’s engagement party, so Mindy decides to go without him. Just as she’s about to leave Benoit (yes he’s back) shows up at her door and tells her his song has been entered into Eurovision.

Nicolas then shows up and whisks Mindy away by helicopter to the engagement party.

Sylvie has unexplained history with Louis de Leon

It has to be said, but Sylvie really is the most connected woman in all of Paris. And while we’ve known her connection to many men throughout the series, there’s another mysterious one to add to our roster.

During the Pierre debacle Sylvie goes to visit Louis de Leon and while he initially refuses her requests, she reminds him of their history together when she worked as his assistant but doesn’t fully reveal the circumstances.

Their history comes up again during the season finale when Sylvie’s husband Laurent (who she’s still with btw) says he wants to open up a member’s club in Paris, and Louis has come on board as the club’s mystery investor. Surely things go only go badly from here on out?

Camille ditched Gabriel at the altar

But not as badly perhaps as one of the biggest moments of the season when Camille ditched Gabriel at the altar.

To rewind, Camille and Gabriel started the season together, but Camille withdrew from their relationship and instead spent a lot of time with Greek artist Sofia (Melia Kreiling). The pair began an affair and at one point are caught kissing on Alfie’s balcony by Emily.

In episode eight Gabriel drunkenly confides in his relationship with Camille to Emily, expressing his doubts that Camille never forgave him for his affair with Emily. If he’s worried about that, then Emily’s probably not the person to speak to about it. He then confesses his love for Emily.

But the next day Camille and Gabriel are back together and in love as if nothing ever happened. Gabriel plans to propose to Camille, and Emily gets involved hoping their romantic moment will work for a campaign she’s working on. However, their plans are ruined when Camille proposes to Gabriel. Can we just take a minute to say what an icon?

Emily manages to keep the campaign and instead she and Alfie become it stars, flying over French countryside in a hot air balloon.

Camille and Gabriel throw an engagement party at Camille’s family house (which will always be interior goals FYI). Emily tries to convince Camille to tell Gabriel about her affair with Sofia, but she says it was just a fling that’s now over, like Emily and Gabriel. Touché Camille, touché.

At the party Gabriel receives the news he’s been awarded a Michelin star, and kisses Emily on the hand in celebration. A bit awks if you’re celebrating your engagement to another woman. Camille notices and Gabriel then suggests the pair get married right then.

At the wedding, after Gabriel recites his vows, Camille drops a bombshell and reveals to everyone she and Emily had pact agreeing to both not date Gabriel, which she obviously broke. She then says it’s obvious Gabriel and Emily are in love, which causes Alfie to storm out and the wedding to not go ahead.

But the bombshells don’t end there as Emily reveals to Gabriel her feelings for him haven’t gone and he then reveals that Camille is pregnant, and that’s why she came back to Paris and they recommitted to each other.

And mic drop. The season literally ends there, get us back to Paris asap.
