Grimes, Elon Musk’s former girlfriend, praised him in a recent interview, describing her relationship as her “best internship ever.” She expressed admiration for Musk’s leadership and engineering skills, and referred him as her “best friend and the love of my life.”

The professional life of Elon Musk is always on the front page of the news. Be it the happenings around Twitter (now X), Tesla, or SpaceX, Mr. Musk never fails to steal the spotlight. However, just like his professional dealings, his personal life is also a hot topic. Lately, while he’s often been criticized by his exes for being “controlling” and “self-absorbed,” his former girlfriend Grimes took a different stance in a recent interview, praising him for all the right reasons and hailing him as an exceptional leader.

In a recent interview with Wired, Canadian musician Grimes (Claire Elise Boucher) opened up about her past relationship with Elon Musk. She described their relationship as something special, highlighting how much she had learned. She even quoted her two years of experience in the relationship as the “best internship ever.”

Grimes further expressed her admiration for Musk’s leadership and engineering skills, especially in the realm of SpaceX. “People don’t like talking about Elon, but it was incredible to be right there watching all that SpaceX stuff happen,” she said. “That’s a master class in leadership and engineering and makes you understand how rare it is to have a leader of that quality.”

Grims stated that they are still on good terms, and referred Musk as her “best friend and the love of my life.” When asked what Musk learned from her, Grimes playfully remarked, “Maybe to have more fun. I try to soften him up, to build family culture. And he steals a lot of my memes.”

Interestingly, Elon Musk’s biographer Walter Isaacson also shed light on their relationship in his upcoming book. He revealed that on their second date, Musk demonstrated the self-driving car technology to Grimes by driving with his hands off the wheel and letting her experience Autopilot.

Earlier, during the period of separation rumors, Musk also admitted that he still loved her and attributed their professions and long distance as the reasons for their separation. For those who are unaware, Musk and Grimes dated for approximately 3 years and had two children named X AE A-Xii Musk and a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk before they broke up in 2022.

Meanwhile, commenting on the recent discussions about the cage fight between Musk and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Grimes expressed her preference for it not to happen. While she acknowledged the possibility of the clash indeed occurring, she conveyed a desire for it to be avoided. Grimes stated, ‘I love gladiatorial matches, but witnessing the father of your children engage in a physical fight is not the most pleasant feeling. However, it’s unlikely to cause brain damage, so actually, I think this is a positive thing. Men need an outlet for traditional masculinity.”

Not only regarding the fight, but also when commenting on the various changes happening at Twitter and how Musk has laid off numerous employees, Grimes chose to show the positive perspective. She stated, ‘Not many people discuss Elon, but it was incredible to witness all the SpaceX events up close. It’s like a lesson in excellent leadership and engineering, showcasing how rare it is to have a leader of such caliber.’

Even Musk’s recent move to rename Twitter as X also drew a response from Grimes, who pointed out that Musk ‘didn’t build the culture there.’ Nevertheless, he did construct an enormous ‘X’ sign on the roof of the company’s headquarters that turned all nearby apartments into strobe-lit rage rooms.”
