Elon Musk and Nicole Shanahan partied together and had a sexual encounter in 2021, claims a New York Times report. Shanahan is the ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Robert F Kennedy Jr’s vice presidential pick.

The New York Times has reported that Google co-founder Sergey Brin’s ex-wife and Robert F Kennedy Jr’s vice presidential pick, Nicole Shanahan, had an affair with Elon Musk in 2021. The affair led to her separation and subsequent divorce from Brin. Shanahan reportedly received $1 billion in her divorce settlement last year.

In a piece titled “A Running Mate’s History: $1 Billion, Cocaine, a Fling With Elon Musk,” the New York Times revealed new details of the alleged affair between Nicole Shanahan and Elon Musk that they both deny.

Shanahan, a 38-year-old lawyer, married Brin in 2018. During their five-year marriage, she partied with the upper echelon of Silicon Valley society and used a variety of recreational drugs, including ketamine, cocaine and psychedelic mushrooms, according to eight people and documents reviewed by The New York Times. Three of these people also said that Shanahan took ketamine with Tesla founder Elon Musk during a party.

The report said that the coronavirus pandemic was a challenging time for both Shanahan and Brin, who were also dealing with their daughter’s autism diagnosis. During this time, Shanahan began going out more and more without her husband.

In the autumn of 2021, she hosted a birthday party for herself which Elon Musk – a friend of Brin’s – attended. The sexual encounter between Musk and Shanahan occurred later that same year.

The party in question took place in December 2021 and was hosted by Elon Musk’s brother, Kimbal Musk, in Miami. During the event, Elon Musk took ketamine with Shanahan and the two “disappeared together for several hours,” said four people.

Shanahan later told her then-husband Sergey Brin that she had a sexual encounter with Musk, three people told New York Times. She also made the same claim to friends and family.

Brin and Shanahan separated about two weeks after the party. In 2022, he filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences.”
