The world is seemingly Jake Paul’s oyster after a record-breaking win over Mike Tyson – and Conor McGregor could be on the American’s list of potential opponents
A one-sided win over Mike Tyson has once again put the spotlight on Jake Paul as the talk of the town in boxing.
Despite the fact ‘The Problem Child’ has still yet to beat a current, top-rank boxer, interest is spiking once again over whom he’ll face next. Paul rarely looked in anything resembling trouble as he bested ‘Iron Mike’ over eight two-minute rounds, but fans and critics alike will be hoping his next task is a bit more challenging.
And there are several avenues Paul could take in giving those fanatics what they want in 2025. The Ohio native has proved shrewd in taking on the tests that stand to benefit him most to date, but a little more risk could go a long way next year.
Conor McGregor accepts offer
In the interest of Paul’s model being centred around money fights, pursuing a date opposite Conor McGregor is arguably the best decision he could make. It wouldn’t be his first time beating a UFC fighter after all, even if ‘Notorious’ hasn’t fought in more than three-and-a-half years.
Among Paul’s stable of mixed martial artist victims are Hall of Famer Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley (twice), Ben Askren and Mike Perry. That being said, a showdown opposite arguably the most well-known UFC fighter of all time would transcend the profile (not to mention potential earnings) of all those wins combined.
It was all the way back in December 2020 that Paul called out McGregor in public and offered him $50million (£40m) for the pleasure. The YouTuber was just 2-0 at the time, taunting his would-be foe by pointing out McGregor’s only pro boxing experience against Floyd Mayweather Jr ended in a TKO defeat.

In the wake of his win over Tyson, Paul took to X and proposed an MMA matchup with 36-year-old McGregor as he wrote: “Dear Conor, I know you told my team you would fight me at 170 pounds. That’s never happening. But let’s run it in MMA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won’t.”
Speaking about Paul’s bout with Tyson this summer, McGregor voiced his distaste for the former when he wished for Mike to “rattle the little dope.” For all their differences – including a nine-year age gap – money could be the great unifier between the two, and the right paycheck could finally tempt McGregor back into competition.
Tommy Fury rematch
The one blemish on Paul’s 11-1 record is none other than Tommy Fury, who edged the American via split decision when they met back in February 2023. Much has changed for both fighters since then, but one thing that’s almost certainly remained consistent is their disdain for one another.

There is some question as to whether the second act with Tyson Fury’s half-brother would be the smartest choice by Paul in terms of appeal. However, Fury – who is poised to take on ex-UFC welterweight Darren Till in January – has suggested it’s “inevitable” he and Paul will scrap once again.
“In a heartbeat, yeah. I mean at the end of the day I think me and him, we’re set in stone,” he recently told ESPN. “He’s only got one defeat and that’s to me, so it’s inevitable that we are going to get back in the ring.”
Paul’s former trainer, BJ Flores, previously told The Sun Fury was “unreasonable” in his demands regarding fight purse to face Paul. But if the financials can be settled, avenging his sole boxing defeat is a natural objective for the former Disney actor.
World title shot

In the unlikely event Paul decides he’s done with past-their-prime talents and ex-NBA players, he has offers for world title shots ready and raring. One of those came courtesy of IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, who contacted him via Instagram to offer a chance at his crown.
Paul shared a screenshot of his interaction with Dubois, who wrote: “Hi Jake, good business on the weekend but how would you feel fighting for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the world this is Daniel Dubois calling you out. Let’s get it on.”
His target responded by telling Dubois – who most recently knocked out Anthony Joshua – to “get in line,” though Paul did say he’d consider the offer. And he appeared more open to the opportunity than the one he received from undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev, who is also giving Paul a sight at his belts.
“@JakePaul what can you do in the ring against the current undisputed champion. Just know I’m always open to any suggestions,” wrote Beterbiev on Instagram. Paul responded that he “runs this sport” but has yet to give a yes or no to the challenge.
Should he truly want to cement a long-standing legacy in the sport, then beating McGregor like Mayweather did, avenging his only career defeat against Fury and then taking on a reigning world champion would be a highly successful 2025 for him.
