Wednesday season 2’s teaser trailer confirms what we had all assumed — that Wednesday will return to Nevermore, reuniting with friends like Enid (Emma Myers) and tentative allies like Bianca (Joy Sunday), while outwitting a new villain. The roles of new Wednesday cast members Lady Gaga, Christopher Lloyd, and more are still shrouded in mystery, but Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) appears to be joining the student body at Nevermore. With both Addams siblings around, there are opportunities for Wednesday to include more Addams Family Easter eggs, and they are doing just that with the release date.
Wednesday Season 2 Is Premiering On A Wednesday
Two Wednesdays, To Be Exact
Netflix is opting for an unusual Wednesday release date for Wednesday season 2, in honor of the main character. The first four episodes will be on Netflix on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, while the second half of the season will come on Wednesday, Sept. 6. This follows the suit of Wednesday season 1, which was released in its entirety on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022. When Netflix usually releases new episodes for its biggest shows on Thursday or Friday, season 1’s date could have been justified by wanting to avoid Thanksgiving the next day.
However, when season 2 is expected earlier in the year and isn’t avoiding direct competition with major holiday programming, Netflix’s decision to have middle-of-the-week releases for both parts of the season shows a much bigger commitment to the show’s branding. It makes the streaming event just a touch more unique and will be a fun pick-me-up midway through the week in August and September. Other shows have also been known to release episodes on early weekdays, which has hardly ever derailed their success.
Why Wednesday Season 2 Is Premiering In The Summer Instead Of The Fall
Wednesday Faces A New Challenge Outside Its Optimal Season

However, Wednesday‘s sophomore outing is also scheduled for late summer/early fall, rather than the heart of the spooky season as its predecessor was. October or November are the best possible times for Wednesday to have a season premiere, when everyone is already steeping in Halloween and autumnal vibes, which can only bolster the show. Season 2 at least has its second part scheduled for September, and Netflix may be hoping for a long-lasting streaming event that will carry people into Halloween.
The goal for these big streaming shows isn’t for them to be in the Top 10 for just the first week — they want that to last for a few weeks, to prove the series’ popularity and justify its budget. Thus, Netflix may be hoping that the Wednesday event will go on until October. However, Wednesday may have also simply drawn the short stick when Netflix arranged its schedule for 2025.
Squid Game season 3 and The Sandman season 2 will both be summer releases, out of the way before Wednesday comes back around. The Thanksgiving to Christmas space may be reserved for Knives Out 3, when its predecessor did well in this spot. But most of all, the Netflix October 2025 is probably going to Stranger Things season 5. This is another show that goes hand in hand with fall, is the flagship of the streaming giant, and is in its last season. But, if Wednesday continues to be successful, it could be Netflix’s Halloween event in years to come.
