The Walking Dead’s Explosive Spin-offs: What’s Next in the Thrilling Zombie Universe?

The new spin-offs of The Walking Dead have achieved what many fans were hoping for: diving deeper into the stories of beloved characters in thrilling settings. With series like Daryl DixonDead City, and The Ones Who Live, viewers can enjoy plots centered around iconic characters, exploring new places like Manhattan and France. These series not only continue the stories of known characters but also introduce new characterizations that bring a fresh flavor to The Walking Dead universe.

One of the most common criticisms of the main series was its extensive cast, which made it difficult to deeply develop favorite characters. The last mega-season, with 24 episodes, introduced many new characters, diluting the arcs of the main cast. Although it was a great season with exciting plots, some main characters were absent for several episodes, forcing viewers to remember where their story left off.

The question remains: does The Walking Dead need more spin-offs? It’s likely yes, as long as the creators follow the path of Daryl Dixon, Dead City, and The Ones Who Live. These series have done a fabulous job of creating stories about known characters that are interesting and set in exciting new places, while introducing new characters that add a new flavor to The Walking Dead universe.

The Content Director of the The Walking Dead franchise, Scott M. Gimple, has played various roles within the universe. He began his journey on the main show in 2011 as a co-producer and writer, and took on the role of showrunner in the fourth season. Since then, he has created other series like World Beyond alongside Matt Negrete and has served in various roles in the spin-offs. In 2018, he became the CCO, leading the creative direction of the franchise.
