Cardi B was moved to tears as she sent Sha’Carri Richardson some positive affirmations ahead of the 2024 Olympics.
On Monday (July 22), Bardi shared a previously-recorded clip of her and Richardson getting their nails done for an NBC/Peacock promo as the track star prepares to head to Paris for the Summer Games.
“Wishing @itsshacarri sooooo much luck!!” Cardi wrote. “You bought so much emotion out of me because your words and your spirit is so powerful. Seeing your growth after people tried to turn their back on you is so inspirational to me.. You are more than just a athlete, you are a SUPERHERO and I can’t wait to see where the next 10 years take you because you already a legend @NBCOlympics”
In the clip, Cardi also showers Sha’Carri with compliments, at one point saying: “You’re like a girl that I could really hang out with, really chill with, really be cool with, really be like, ‘Girl! She’s really like one of us!’ I’m really really proud of you.” At the end of the clip, she tears up.
This will be Sha’Carri Richardson’s debut at the Olympics, following a disqualification in the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games after testing positive for marijuana.
At the time, Cardi B was one of many superstars who spoke up in the runner’s defense,a list that included Drake, Snoop Dogg and more.
“They know she woulda ATE,” Drizzy wrote in his Instagram Stories.
The D-O-Double-G, one of Hip Hop’s biggest smokers and a supporter of the legalization of marijuana across the country, slammed the decision by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
“Are you serious?!” Snoop wrote. “Marijuana? It’s not an enhancement for her abilities,” Snoop wrote.
In an interview on the TODAY show, Richardson explained she smoked to cope with the loss of her biological mother and accepted her punishment.
In other Cardi B news, the Bronx rapper recently showed off her raunchy side on Rob49‘s new single “On Dat Money.”
The collaboration between Cardi and the New Orleans spitter was released on Friday (June 19). Cardi’s verse finds her expanding on the song’s hook, rapped by Rob49: “I’m a rich n-gga, I’ll fuck you right there on dat money.”
“Fuck me on the money — bitch, we don’t need no bed/ Put that money on me, like that n-gga you want dead,” Cardi raps in some of the song’s tamer bars. “Look, send that Zelle for me, pick out my nails for me/ You gon’ see-see what this throat do when you put Chanel on me.”
