Several scenes in the finale saw Tyland negotiating with the Triarchy, hoping that the latter would help the crown by breaking the Velaryon blockade of the Gullet. This led to the introduction of a new House of the Dragon cast member.

Undoubtedly, what was shown in Tyland’s story will be vital to House of the Dragon season 3’s story. The brewing Battle of the Gullet is a major conflict in the coming war and provides several huge plot developments regarding who wins the Dance of Dragons. As evidenced by the finale of House of the Dragon season 2, the Triarchy will have a big role in the battle, as will the aforementioned new cast member Abigail Thorn as Sharako Lohar.

Shakaro Lohar Is A Triarchy Admiral – And Gender-Swapped In HOTD

Shakaro Lohar Is From The Source Material But With One Key Difference

Sharako Lohar talking to Tyland Lannister in House of the Dragon season 2 (2024)

In House of the Dragon season 2, episode 8, Shakaro Lohar is introduced as a Triarchy admiral. After House of the Dragon‘s Tyland Lannister manages to convince the leaders of the Triarchy to support King Aegon II, they state that he must first impress the woman who is set to lead the Triarchy fleet to war. This ushers in Shakaro Lohar, who spends the episode toying with Tyland by purposefully misnaming him, fighting him in muddy hand-to-hand combat, and asking if he will impregnate her many wives.

While little in the way of development is given to Shakaro Lohar in George R. R. Martin’s Fire and Blood, it seems House of the Dragon is altering this somewhat. Already, more about Shakaro Lohar has been presented, including a key change from the source material. In the book, Shakaro Lohar is a man, whereas she is a woman in House of the Dragon, though it does not seem as if the gender change will lead to similar drastic changes in character.

Who Is Abigail Thorn? What The Shakaro Lohar Actress Has Been In

Abigail Thorn Is A Relatively New Actress Who Had A Big 2024

Abigail Thorn as Jess in Django

Concerning who plays Shakaro Lohar, House of the Dragon season 2’s finale revealed this as Abigail Thorn. Thorn originally began her career as a YouTuber, garnering a big online following between 2013 and 2019. Thorn then began dipping her feet into acting, appearing in the BBC’s Ladhood in the role of Iona. In 2023, Thorn played the role of Jess in six episodes of the reimagining of Django. 2023 also saw Thorn play a role in a filmed performance of the stage play The Prince and voice a character named Nocturne in the popular video game Baldur’s Gate III.

In 2024, Thorn’s acting career took a much more mainstream turn. Thorn was cast in The Acolyte, a Star Wars TV show. While Thorn did not have the biggest role to play in the show, appearing in two episodes of a Star Wars TV show is no small feat. This success was only bolstered by her casting in House of the Dragon as Shakaro Lohar. Based on the events of House of the Dragon season 2, episode 8, it seems as though Thorn’s role will only increase in size in House of the Dragon season 3’s Battle of the Gullet.

What Happens To Shakaro Lohar In House Of The Dragon’s Future

The Admiral Of The Triarchy Has An Interesting Future

Concerning what exactly happens to Shakaro Lohar in the future of House of the Dragon, the aforementioned Battle of the Gullet is key to her destiny. Given that she leads the fleet of ships on their way to attack the Velaryon blockade, it is clear that Shakaro Lohar has an integral role in the battle itself. In Fire and Blood, Lohar is in command during the Battle of the Gullet, which turns out to be one of the bloodiest naval battles in Westerosi history. If anything, this proves Shakaro Lohar’s future is one filled with blood and battles.

The character will undoubtedly fight in the Battle of the Gullet before potentially capturing Prince Viserys…

Interestingly though, Shakaro Lohar will be integral to the fate of a few other House of the Dragon characters if the show follows the book on which it is based. During the Battle of the Gullet, Lohar captures a small ship named the Gay Abandon which contains the princes Aegon and Viserys – Rhaenyra and Daemon’s children – who were traveling to Pentos after being held in the Vale for a short time. Aegon manages to escape on his dragon, though Viserys is believed dead by his family.

Lohar takes Viserys and sells him to the magister of Lys. Eventually, Lohar is murdered by one of his rivals, likely due to the wealth he amassed by selling Prince Viserys. With this story being outlined in Fire and Blood, it is likely House of the Dragon season 3 will depict Shakaro Lohar’s arc similarly. The character will undoubtedly fight in the Battle of the Gullet before potentially capturing Prince Viserys, planting the seeds for more familial drama in House of the Dragon.
