The highly anticipated House of the Dragon Season 2 dived further into the world of Westeros. Set 200 years before the Game of Thrones events that captivated millions, the show offered a deeper insight into dragon-fueled warfare that led to the legendary civil war, famously known as the Dance of the Dragons.

Given that the show featured several gritty moments, which is quite common in the GOT world, the show also had several off-screen moments that created quite a buzz on the Internet. One such moment was Kit Harington’s psychotic prank, which the HOTD cast themselves wanted to try.

Kit Harington’s Prank That Shocked the World!

Back in 2017, Kit Harington, who portrayed Jon Snow in the HBO acclaimed series, Game of Thrones, executed an April Fool’s Day prank that left a lasting impression on the Internet (his wife was terribly shocked though).

The actor decided to prank his wife, Rose Leslie by placing a realistic replica of his severed head in the fridge, seemingly a prop he borrowed from the set. Leslie, who had also starred in Game of Thrones as Ygritte, Jon Snow’s love interest was completely unaware of what awaited her.

During his appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, the host shared a clip of the moment, when the actress opened the fridge and spotted the severed head. She was seen screaming in fear, leading her reaction to be pure horror and shock.

The entire clip captured a wholesome moment of Leslie getting terrorized by the prop and turning to anger as she understood the situation. The dark prank surely didn’t fit his partner’s taste as he himself revealed in the show,

My family does April Fool’s. Her family doesn’t do April Fool’s. After that, she was in tears. And I was there going, ‘April Fool’s It didn’t go down well.

The video went viral, becoming a cultural touchstone for franchise fans, which also is a testament to Harington’s pranking skills. The Eternals actor later admitted in the same interview that the actress would not entertain any such pranks, else it would cost him his relationship.

The War Horse actor’s prank became quite renowned among the cast, which inspired House of the Dragon star Fabien Frankel to do something similar. In a recent interview with India Today, he made an appearance with his co-star, Tom Glynn-Carney to promote the second season of the HBO show.

The interviewer asked the duo about what they would like to take back home from their show set with Glynn-Carney responding Iron Throne. He would bring that home to have it in the garden.

Frankel, who plays Criston Cole on the show, seemed to be influenced by Harington’s dark prank as he wanted to take a fake severed head to prank his brother. He reflected,

You know what, in season one, this is a bit weird actually. I shouldn’t say it… In season one, Will Johnson’s character gets beheaded. They made the craziest fake head I’ve ever seen, and I’d like to take that.

He further shared about Harington’s viral video about pranking his wife, stating that he would use the prop to scare his brother. As for the scene in the discussion, in Season 1 of HOTD, Will Johnson’s character, Ser Vaemond Velaryon, met his tragic end when he was accused of treason and betrayal, leading to his brutal beheading.

House of the Dragon can be streamed on HBO Max.
