George R.R Martin’s fantasy world has nothing in common with real-life problems.
Following Game of Thrones and its unprecedented success back in the day, House of the Dragon has already spent several years on TV bringing the beloved and fascinating fire-spitting creatures back to the screen, though one big problem regarding the dragons’ survival mode still remains unclear to fans of George R.R. Martin’s universe.
Ever since Game of Thrones swept modern TV and glued millions of viewers to their screens, it’s been pretty clear that only some mysterious force is able to kill the Targaryens’ fire-spitting pets, and that doesn’t even include firearms, as the dragons repeatedly proved they can fly around just fine with holes in their wings.
Such a weird ability has surely kept many fans perusing George R.R. Martin’s books or scrolling through internet pages desperate to find answers, though the whole mystery isn’t quite a mystery when it comes to the essence of the author’s work.
Why Dragons in HotD Can Fly With Holes in Their Wings
For years, many fans have been pretty reassured that it’s always been the dragon’s size that mattered.
Since both shows never hid the fact that stronger dragons had a higher potential to survive significant wounds during intense battles, there’s been a reason for many to assume that the creatures’ inner strength somehow was giving them a fantastic ability to keep on living even with several big holes in their wings.
Still, there seems to be another explanation, and it may be a much simpler thing to end up with.
However trivial it may sound, the essential biology rules can’t really be applied in this case as George R.R. Martin’s universe is nothing more than a mere fantasy, even though it does include normal and pretty much mortal people.
Since dragons have always been just a part of humanity’s wild imagination, there’s never been a way for them to have the same living conditions as people had before or have now.
As simple as that, the whole idea of the fire-spitting fantastic creatures dying of the same wounds as their human masters doesn’t even make much sense after all.
