Justin Baldoni reportedly had no idea that his It Ends With Us costar Blake Lively got her husband Ryan Reynolds involved with their film.
Despite proudly raving that her spouse ‘wrote’ the ‘iconic rooftop scene’ featured in the beginning of the movie to E! News during a red carpet interview, a source claims that Baldoni, 40, was left completely in the dark about Reynolds’ contribution.
An insider told Variety that the revelation came as ‘news to Baldoni, who thought the scene had been ad libbed by Lively.’
The publication noted that ‘WGA did not respond to a request for comment about whether Reynolds’ work is a guild violation that could spark a credits issue.’
Still, as pointed out by the outlet, ‘movies can have uncredited writers,’ but ‘rarely would the director be unaware.’
A source also told the outlet that ‘there’s probably no world where these two will work together again.’
DailyMail.com has reached out to Lively and Baldoni’s respective representatives to comment, but have not heard back at this time.
Previously, Christy Hall, who worked as a screenwriter on It Ends With Us, revealed to People that she did not know Reynolds made some adjustments to the script.
‘There were a couple of little things that I thought had been improvised. Like when he says, “Pretty please with a cherry on top,“ and she talks about the maraschino cherries. When I saw a cut I was like, “Oh, that’s cute. That must have been a cute improvised thing.“ So if I’m being told that Ryan wrote that, then great, how wonderful.’
She added that she picked up on ‘a few little flourishes’ that she hadn’t written, but ‘assumed they had been improvised on set.’
‘But, again, like I said, the moments that I felt like needed to be honored are there,’ she added. ‘So I recognize the scene and I’m proud of the scene. And if those flourishes came from Ryan, I think that’s wonderful.’
Hall admitted that the rooftop scene was ‘probably the trickiest one to tackle’ because it is ‘perfect in the novel.’
‘My first attempt at that scene, I really tried to just honor what Colleen wrote, almost word for word,’ she explained.

‘I really, really tried because I just think that she did it best. What’s tricky about that scene is it’s long.’
While promoting the film, Lively shared that the Deadpool actor, 47, helped write the ‘iconic rooftop scene.’
‘My husband actually wrote it. Nobody knows that but you now,’ Blake, who is the star and producer of the film, told E! News at the New York City premiere earlier this month.
The actress — who recently made a cameo as Ladypool in Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine movie — added, ‘We help each other. He works on everything I do; I work on everything he does. So his wins, his celebrations are mine and mine are his.’
It Ends With Us is based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel published in 2016.
For the past month, Lively has faced criticism for how she has promoted the film amid allegations of a rumored rift with Baldoni, who plays her on-screen love interest.
Additionally, she’s endured backlash over her past ‘mean girl’ behavior and comments in multiple resurfaced interviews over the years, including the use of the transgender slur ‘tranny’ in several unearthed videos.
