New set photos taken during filming on The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 reveal the series is heading to yet another country. Season 1 of The Walking Dead spinoff finds Daryl washing ashore in France and eventually traveling to Paris and Normandy, and beyond a brief excursion to Mexico, this marked the first time the franchise explored another country. Daryl Dixon season 2, subtitled The Book of Carol and set to premiere September 29, will pick up with Daryl and Carol in France, while season 3 will film and also be set in Spain.
Now, however, set photos from Daryl Dixon season 3 seem to suggest that at least some scenes will take place in another country besides France or Spain. The photos, which come via @visual.shooting on Instagram, show a street dressed to appear as London, England. Filming on the new season, which began just a few days ago, is still taking place in Spain, but details like a red double-decker bus, an iconic British phone booth, and a sign for Trafalgar Square clearly indicate the street seen in the photos is meant to appear as if it’s in London.
What Could Bring Daryl & Carol To London?
While Daryl Dixon season 2 has yet to premiere, it’s expected that in the upcoming episodes we will see Carol make her way to France to reunite with Daryl. From there, the two will likely try making their way back home to the United States, but will either be forced or choose to remain abroad. Eventually, their adventures will take them to Spain, where it’s been confirmed season 3 will be set. These new photos, though, are the first indication that at least part of season 3 will also be taking place somewhere besides France or Spain.
Just why the series is traveling to England is something that will likely be made clear after season 2 airs and it’s revealed why they leave France for Spain in the first place. It could be related to keeping Laurent safe from The Power of the Living, or it could have something to do with further exploring the origin of the zombie virus. A trip to London, then, could happen for any number of reasons, bringing Daryl and Carol to yet another European city where they’ll experience how its people have weathered the apocalypse.
As it’s unknown where in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 these London scenes occur, it could be that the stopover in London comes before they journey to Spain, as Normandy, France (where season 1 of Daryl Dixon leaves off) is much closer geographically to England than it is to Spain. Then again, if the London scenes come from the end of season 3, then perhaps these scenes are setup for where the series could go in a potential season 4.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 premieres on September 29th on AMC and AMC+.
