The release date for Reacher season 3 on Prime Video has been revealed during this year’s Comic Con Experience (CCXP). The streamer’s most popular series, which broke records just days after premiering season 2, will soon return for its third installment. The upcoming episodes of the Nick Santora-created action drama will be based on the Persuader novel by Lee Child and will feature a largely new cast alongside lead star Alan Ritchson, although Maria Sten will reprise her role as Frances Neagley before branching off into her own spinoff.
Prime Video has now confirmed that Reacher season 3 will premiere on February 20, 2025. The announcement, which was made at CCXP on the famous Thunder Stage in São Paulo and at which Screen Rant was in attendance, revealed that the eight-episode season will follow a weekly release model, with the first three episodes debuting on February 20, followed by one episode a week every Thursday through March 27. Ritchson and Sten were in attendance for the announcement, as was Reacher author and executive producer Lee Child.

What’s Next For Alan Ritchson After Reacher Season 3?
He’s Got A Full Slate
It has been confirmed by Prime Video that Reacher season 4 will begin filming in 2025, though a more specific for production is so far unknown. Ritchson is maintaining a busy schedule, however, as he’s linked to several upcoming projects. Since the release of Reacher‘s second season in late 2023, its lead star has been attached to several projects. His production banner, AllyCat Entertainment, has also linked a multi-year first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
Ritchson has produced movies such as the Kristen Stewart-led biopic Seberg and the 2019 comedy The Turkey Bowl .
Back in February 2024, it was announced that Ritchson would star alongside The King of Queens actor Kevin James in the action comedy Playdate from Let’s Be Cops and The Girl Next Door director Luke Greenfield. The story focuses on two stay-at-home dads, and their sons, as they plunge into a deadly conspiracy. This announcement was quickly followed in March with the news that Arnold Schwarzenegger will star opposite Ritchson in the Adam Shankman-directed holiday movie, The Man with the Bag.
The Man with the Bag marks Schwarzenegger’s first film since 2019, centering on a heist to retrieve Santa’s magic bag and save Christmas.
Ritchson is likewise set to lead the action sci-fi film War Machine, which will be helmed by The Hitman’s Bodyguard director Patrick Hughes. The project, which has been acquired by Netflix, unfolds in the final hours of the world’s toughest selection process as a team of army rangers encounters a threat that is well beyond their imagination. More recently, in October, the Smallville alum was announced for two more action features and the Nicholas Sparks adaptation Counting Miracles.
The actor will star in The Runner from Need for Speed and Expendables 4 director Scott Waugh, with a story centering around a high-end courier that has three hours to transport an organ and save the life of a young girl in a mission that quickly turns complicated. And, lastly, Ritchson will star opposite Prey breakout Amber Midthunder in Painter, an action film from Logan and Avatar stunt coordinator Garrett Warren. The story centers on a young woman trained to employ every skill in her arsenal to rescue her abducted father.
While both Playdate and The Man with the Bag began filming earlier this year, other movies, like The Runner, have yet to start rolling cameras. More will be known about how Ritchson’s other commitments will dovetail with production on Reacher season 4 as we enter into the new year, though Prime Video would obviously like to keep its top hit on a consistent release plan.
Our Take On What The Release Date Means For Reacher
It’s Back To A Weekly Model
Remove Ads
It’s no surprise that Prime Video would favor a weekly release model for the upcoming installment of the hit series. Reacher season 2 became the streamer’s most popular series within just days of its release, ultimately racking up billions of minutes viewed. It would make sense that executives at the streamer would try to make an event out of the show’s return, especially considering how long fans have been waiting for it.
Reacher is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios, with Nick Santora serving as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Ritchson serves as executive producer as well, as does Child, Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance. Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid, meanwhile, are the executives-in-charge of the series for Skydance Television.
Creatively, though, it remains to be seen whether it’s the right move. The action drama is not episodic or standalone in any way. Every season so far has functioned like a movie, which is cut up into different parts. Considering that storytelling approach, it may be better suited to the binge-release format of season 1, where most viewers don’t have a week to stew over individual episodes, especially considering the more muted response to Reacher season 2. That will be one of the things to watch for, with the release date now confirmed.
