Viewers are obsessed with ‘criminally underrated’ show ‘even better than Breaking Bad’

The show is ‘criminally underrated’

Even being compared to Breaking Bad is the highest of praise, as the show is now pretty unanimously agreed to be a top three show of all time.

To be placed on the same level as the story of Walter White is a clear sign that either a show is being overhyped or is some of the best TV ever made.

In the case of this show it is the latter, with some saying it is ‘even better than Breaking Bad’ at points in its run.

The show is Snowfall, and it is so highly regarded that – of its six-season run, four different seasons have a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Snowfall follows an American crime family during the Los Angeles drugs boom in the 80s, where they decide to start selling cocaine.

Led by one of the top prospects being discussed to take on the role of James Bond, Damson Idris, the show also boasts a brilliant score of 8.4 on IMDb.

The recommendation of the show, which also saw comments calling it better than Breaking Bad at points, came in a discussion on Reddit.

The poster was asking for shows similar to Breaking Bad, Ozark, and Weeds.

One commenter suggested Snowfall, with another replying: “Second for Snowfall. There were some parts I thought were even better than breaking bad.

Another said: “I absolutely enjoyed it more than Breaking Bad. Snowfall is criminally underrated”.

One fan even went as far as to call the show a ‘masterpiece’, saying: “Masterpiece. It’s a crime that Rick Ross didn’t get his dues for Snowfall though.”

The Rick Ross in question isn’t the rapper, but the man that many believe the show is based on.

‘Freeway Rick Ross’ is a former drug lord who established his empire in Los Angeles during the early to mid 1980s – predominantly selling cocaine.

Nope, doesn’t sound familiar at all…

Ross was sentenced to life in prison when he was caught but was released in 2009 after an appeal.

In an interview, Ross accused the show of ‘stealing’ his life story. He said in an interview with Shirley Ju on Shirley’s Temple: “They stole my life story, that’s my life story.

“It’s so much to it. It’s my story and they’re benefitting off it.

“I’m not benefitting.”

As a viewer, both things can be true – the show is an undeniable smash hit up there with Breaking Bad, and we can all hope that he gets the credit for the story being based on his life if it truly was.

In the meantime, Snowfall is available on Hulu to watch in its entirety, and based on its fans’ testimony – it’s a must watch.
