It’s been nearly 20 years since the release of 2004’s “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement”.

It seems like another Princess Diaries movie is on the way!

While speaking to V Magazine, Anne Hathaway, 41, didn’t have a lot to say about a possible third installment, but she did tell the outlet, “We’re in a good place.”

“That’s all I can say. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place,” the Devil Wears Prada star added.

Hathaway played Mia Thermopolis in the first Princess Diaries movie that was released back in 2001, before reprising the role for 2004’s The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.

She starred alongside Julie Andrews, 88, who played her grandmother Queen Clarisse Renaldi in both the original movie, that follows Mia’s journey after learning that she is the princess of Genovia, and its sequel.

While speaking to TODAY.com last month, Andrews said when asked about a possible third Princess Diaries movie, “It’s quite a long time now since the two Diaries were done, and I’m not sure, but sometimes it’s best to leave a good thing alone. I don’t like it when people milk and milk and milk the subject, you know, ’til it’s dead.”

“There was dialogue about it,” Andrews told the outlet, adding, “nothing had been realized. And I think I may be wrong, but I think it’s been shelved now. I can’t be sure.”

However, she did add, “I’d be very happy if we did do another one. But I don’t expect to.”

Back in 2019, Hathaway said there was a “script for the third movie” during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

“I want to do it. Julie wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen. It’s just we don’t want to unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it,” she said at the time.

“It’s as important to us as it is to you, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it,” Hathaway added.

While speaking to PEOPLE in January 2023, Hathaway said that it was “thrilling” to “see the level of excitement” fans had for a potential third flick.

“It’s a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now, because this is how long it actually takes to make things,” she said while discussing the almost two-decade wait for another film at the time.
