As evidenced by the clip, McAvoy had little doubt about the X-Men beating the Avengers, primarily because of the sheer difference in numbers. He said:
One of them is like half-man, half-robot. You just turn off the power and he’s done.
McAvoy made the above statement, revealing his plan to take out Iron Man. The actor went on the explain how Professor X’s mind-control powers would be nearly impossible for the Avengers to deal with.
I could be like take your clothes off and they’d all be taking their clothes off.
McAvoy jokingly added the above comment, while also stating that the original six Avengers were no match to the powers of the X-Men.
While the ranks of the Avengers have bolstered in the past few years, when McAvoy gave this statement, only the core six members of the group had been properly introduced in the MCU. As a result, McAvoy’s comments about the X-Men overpowering this group hold some merit.

As the tweets suggest, fans could not come to a clear conclusion regarding which one of the two groups was stronger. Fans suggested names such as Professor X, Magneto, and Phoenix on the side of the X-Men, and Thor, Scarlet Witch, and Hulk, on the side of the Avengers who could decimate their opposition.
From McAvoy’s words and the debate among fans, it is evident that the subject of X-Men vs Avengers is ripe with cinematic storytelling opportunities. Hence, it will be interesting to see if such a crossover where the two groups fight each other materializes in the future of the MCU now that the franchise has started embracing the mutants.
