Since 2021, for the fourth time (including the Queen Charlotte spin-off), viewers were eagerly awaiting the Dearest gentle reader phrase. And although the main intrigue of the series was revealed at the end of the first season, the interest in Bridgerton has not waned.
The new season of Bridgerton is an excuse to invite girlfriends over, dress up in outrageously bright clothes, and drink every time Queen Charlotte looks at someone with disdain.
In a world where there seems to be less and less reason to be happy every year, Bridgerton has become a comfortable form of escapism. We watch it with our favorite snacks, and cry at yet another on-screen declaration of love.
Bridgerton Season 3 Had Too Many Storylines
However, the third season became the most criticized in the show’s history. The first season burst onto the screens with an indecent amount of sex. The second was more restrained, but confidently held on to scandals and the chemistry of the central couple, as did the spin-off Queen Charlotte.
The third part, for some reason, wastes precious time not on revealing the “from friendship to love” trope on which the story of Colin and Penelope is built, but on insignificant subplots. The third season is so packed with storylines that, while watching them, it is easy to forget that the main focus should be on Pen and Colin.
Fans Say the Number of Episodes Should Be Increased
This highlights the main problem of Bridgerton – a small number of episodes. Especially in the third season, it became obvious that the running time was almost bursting from the number of storylines that were crammed into it. And the fans found a solution to this problem.
“Think about grey’s anatomy. There was no need for a spin-off about any of the characters because we got to see ALL of their full character arcs. […] I just wish bridgerton had more than 8 episodes per season. It definitely feels like they’re trying to cram everything into this short time slot,” Reddit user hunnymoonave pointed out.
However, Eight Episodes Already Take Two Years to Make
This really looks like the most successful solution that would only please the fans. However, no matter how good this plan looks at first glance, it has one very noticeable drawback.
We will see season 4 of Bridgerton only in 2026 – that means it will take two years to produce one season. And this is still the main mystery for all fans of the show – how can eight episodes be filmed in such a long time?
In any case, 15-20 episodes would stretch the production process twice, if not more, and are we really ready to make such sacrifices?
