Freya Allan (Ciri) was nervous at first about The Witcher losing star Henry Cavill, but has since gotten to know his replacement Liam Hemsworth and is excited about where the show will go next.

British actor Henry Cavill played lead character Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher for its first three seasons, surprising everyone when he announced he wouldn’t be returning for a fourth. Although many theories exist, there’s never been any official word on why he left. Netflix quickly announced his replacement: Liam Hemsworth, brother to Chris and star of The Hunger Games movies.

Recently, Netflix released images of Hemsworth reading through the new season with the rest of the cast, including Freya Allan, who plays Geralt’s protégé Princess Ciri. Everyone seemed to be getting along; if there was ever any panic about the lead actor on the show getting replaced, it seems to have passed.

That sounds what it was generally like for Allan, who talked to ComicBook.com about the actor switch. “He’s lovely. Really, really sweet,” she said of Hemsworth. “Really, you know, grounded person, and I was dreading it for a while, if I’m honest. But now I’m on it, and we have, thank God, a great director starting us off which has made it so much fun. My storyline is just so much great stuff to play. I’m actually quite happy.”

Hemsworth will play Geralt for the fourth and fifth seasons of the show. Season 5 will be the last. When last we left our heroes, Ciri had been teleported far across the map after a wizard battle on the Isle of Thanedd, and Geralt was assembling a posse to go find her.

The final two seasons will adapt the final three books in author Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher saga: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of Swallows and The Lady of the Lake. These books do indeed have quite a bit for Ciri to do. Now that Ciri is on her own, she’ll have to fend for herself and see what she’s made of. And everyone is still after her since she’s a golden child of prophecy and all that.

There’s no release date set for The Witcher season 4 as of yet, but we’d expect it to come out on Netflix sometime in 2025.
