MTV has revealed the nominees for this year’s Video Music Awards – and a pair of Houston superstars are in the mix.
Megan Thee Stallion earned five nominations, including best collaboration for “Wanna Be” with Glo Rilla. The anime-inspired “BOA” video is up for best hip-hop, direction, art direction and visual effects. Megan already has two VMAs for best power anthem (“Hot Girl Summer”) and best hip-hop (“Savage”).
Beyoncé hasn’t released a music video since 2021 but earned a song of the year nomination for “Texas Hold ‘Em” from “Cowboy Carter.” She’s up against Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift and Teddy Swims. Beyoncé has won 29 VMAs, the most of any artist.
Taylor Swift leads this year’s nominations with ten for “Fortnight” with Post Malone. Ariana Grande, Eminem and Sabrina Carpenter each earned six nominations. Fans can vote for their favorites at vote.mtv.com.
The VMAs will air live from New York at 7 p.m. Sept. 10. Performances will be announced soon.
