Claudia Conway, the daughter of former Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, has criticized Elon Musk, after the billionaire offered to “give” Taylor Swift a child and protect her cats.
Following months of speculation, Swift announced on Tuesday that she would be voting for Vice President Kamala Harris in November’s election. The pop star’s announcement came minutes after Harris’ debate with former President Donald Trump concluded.
Swift’s social-media endorsement included a photo of her holding a cat. She signed off the message with “Childless Cat Lady”—in reference to Ohio Senator JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, who previously called Harris and other members of the Democratic Party “childless cat ladies.”
Musk, who acquired X, formerly Twitter, back in 2022, took to his social-media platform soon after Swift’s endorsement to write: “Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.”
Business owner Musk, who has fathered 12 children with three different women, was met with a wave of criticism for his comment. The Tesla CEO came out in support of Republican nominee Trump for the upcoming presidential election.
Claudia Conway—who emerged in 2020 as a vocal critic of Trump, despite her mother’s position in the then-president’s administration—counted herself among those who took issue with Musk’s remark about singer Swift.
Reposting Musk’s comment, which as of press time has been viewed more than 91 million times, the outspoken 19-year-old wrote: “You’re creepy. Full stop.”
Musk and Claudia Conway have demonstrated support for candidates on opposing sides of the political aisle. In recent weeks, Claudia Conway has used her social-media platform to back Democratic nominee Harris as she continues to criticize Trump.
Meanwhile, Swift announced her endorsement of Harris following months of questions from fans over her public silence regarding the election.
Breaking that silence on Tuesday, Swift, who backed President Joe Biden in 2020 and has publicly criticized Trump, wrote, in part: “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.
“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
Tim Walz welcomed Swift’s endorsement, telling MSNBC: “I am incredibly grateful, first of all, to Taylor Swift. I say that also as a cat owner.
“That was eloquent, and it was clear, and that’s the type of courage we need in America,” he added.
Vance has said he regrets that people took his “childless cat ladies” remark the wrong way. The Republican vice presidential nominee made the remark while running for the Senate in 2021. He added that Harris and others did not have a “direct stake” in the country because they did not have biological children.
