Snoop Dogg offered to bring Sofronio Vasquez’s mom in US for ‘The Voice’ finale, here’s why she declined!

Aside from Michael Bublé, another The Voice coach showed his support for Filipino singer Sofronio Vasquez during the latter’s stint in the competition.

In an interview with Parade, Sofronio relayed that Snoop Dogg offered to fly his mother to the US from the Philippines to watch the finale of the show.

Sofronio was contacted by Snoop’s manager and made the offer. The singer then discussed it with his mother.

“[I asked my mom], ‘Do you want to be here?’ She’s like, ‘No, as much as I would like to be there, I’m so concerned about you having this mindset of ‘I have to think about my mom and not the competition,’ so she decided she’d rather stay in the Philippines and just have her moment because she has her moment there,” he recounted.

Following his big win on The Voice, Sofronio attended a wrap party hosted by Snoop. “It was an awesome experience. I got to meet people that I didn’t know who worked for the show. It’s good to know that even from the start, they told me, ‘We were rooting for you.’ It’s a compliment.”

Sofronio is the first Filipino singer to win The Voice in the US.

In an interview with Yong Chavez of ABS-CBN News, the singer remarked that winning the competition felt like a full circle moment.

“I really think that the way to move on and to move further for a possible and a beautiful journey in life is just to keep going. We just have to try and dream,” he remarked.

He went on: “I was just dreaming. It was really impossible to think back then. And that moment when Carson Daly called my name, parang nag-break down ako because it’s like a flashback of every rejection, every redirection na oh ito pala ‘yun… Now it was like a culmination of ito pala ‘yun, thank you Lord.”
