CHICAGO Bears star Douglas Coleman III was taken to hospital after being stretchered off during his team’s preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs last night.
Coleman, 26, suffered the injury early on in the second half.

After tackling Chiefs wide receiver Cornell Powell near the sideline, Coleman immediately winced in pain.
With concerned players from both teams crowding around him, medical staff rushed on.
He was first carefully placed onto a stabilizing board, before being put on a stretcher.
Coleman was then carted off the field at Arrowhead Stadium and taken to hospital.
After the game, Bears coach Matt Eberflus gave a brief update on Coleman’s condition.
“When I was on the field, over there on the Chiefs sideline, he was moving his limbs and gave us a thumbs-up,” he said.
“So that was good to see. I don’t have anything more.
“He’s at the hospital right now being evaluated.”
Coleman played college football at Texas Tech before entering the 2020 NFL Draft.
After going undrafted, he signed for the Denver Broncos in April 2020.
He went on to be released that September without playing in an NFL game.
Coleman subsequently joined Canadian Football League side the Ottawa Redblacks in 2021.
Last year he started 17 games for the Redblacks, impressing enough to be signed by the Bears in January.
Chicago had gone in at the half leading the reigning Super Bowl champions 20-7.
‘OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH HIM’
Eberflus’ men went on to finish the job, triumphing 34-21 and consigning the Chiefs to three defeats out of three in preseason play.
Speaking after the game, Chiefs coach Andy Reid began by sending best wishes to Coleman.
“First of all, Douglas Coleman was the kid that got nicked up there,” he said.
“Our thoughts are with him going forward. I think he’s going to be okay but our thoughts are there.”
On the game itself, he added, “We had some good snaps in here.
“The best part was we were able to get all the guys in there to have an opportunity to play and put it on tape, where Brett (Veach) can evaluate it tomorrow and for the next couple of days.”
